Noel

Noel's parents were very eager that she and her siblings should receive a quality education as soon as possible. Almost as soon as they were born, her parents shipped all three of them off to various exchange programs. They hadn't even been named yet. Noel has lost contact with her siblings, which makes her sad. She knows that one of them, a sister now named Mintry, has returned to her clan and seems to be happy. Her brother's education turned out to be exaltation; he is with the Arcanist now. Noel hopes that he's happy and learning a lot. She also hopes that the Arcanist has given him a name.

Shay and Grayson didn't know much about teaching or exchange programs; they were merely wandering through the Auction House one day and saw a newborn Skydancer who had no home for the next several weeks. Enchanted by her crystal shine and polite manners, they brought her home and raised her. The entire clan taught her everything they could, so she learned from the experiences of not only Wind dragons but Ice, Lighting, and several others as well.

Shay was shocked that Noel's parents had sent her away without even naming her. She gave her the name "Noel" as a sort of nickname, a temporary identity until her parents could choose a real one for her. But when the time came for her exchange program to end, Noel refused to return to her birth clan in the Arcane Flight. She kept the name Noel and pledged to remain with Shay's clan until the end of her days or until she chose to exalt herself-- to the Windsinger, the deity of the flight that cared for her enough to give her a name.

She has made several friends in her new clan. including Bertie, Ollivander, and Minerva. She's a little bit more than friends with Tannenbaum, who joined the clan shortly after she did and has a crystal gene in common with her.
