Biography
If there’s a Felix, there must also be a Bennett.
People who met Bennett for the first time tend to write him off as a cheerful, harmless young man.
This first impression is wrong.
Huxley's utter lack of empathy for both overmen and men alike was the exact reason he was the most successful among his peers.
He brought me different books. One of them was "Dummy's Guide to Cooking". A good part of it was dedicated to cooking meat.
"If an animal dies in distress, its meat will be hard to chew," it said.
Aside from regular intakes of soap, my diet consisted primarily of various greens and products high in protein — meat included. One day, I decided to ask.
"What kind of meat is this?", I asked Huxley, who was vigorously waving his hands in the air. As I'd learned later, he was using a VR environment to work.
"A C-type of your kind, I believe.", he answered, not turning away from work. "The greatest delicacy of our time. Truly a feast of Gods."
"Feel like vomiting yet?" he added, genuinely curious.
"No."
I took another bite. The meat was incredibly tough.
-Huxley’s muscle, and the one who’s usually in charge of the dirty work and heavy lifting for most of Huxley's experiments due to his overall lack of empathy and complete willingness to do whatever the doctor might ask of him.
-Originally born in Uberia, where there were two races; humans and overmen. While the two looked similar, their roles in society were completely different. Bennett himself was a B-type human, designed for use in the Laboratory of Human Resources.
In other words, a lab rat.
-Hated being used to test cosmetics, so he tried to collect enough MP (motivation points) to move up to A-type, but when promotion day came and he moved to another department, he became a test subject for medicine instead.
-Being a test subject for medicine was hell, and he gave up entirely on trying to escape the constant testing. When he was finally accidentally injected with the eye plague, there was a part of Bennett that was glad that he would finally be scheduled for disposal. He spent an entire month in isolation; and even as eyes grew on his internal organs and he could barely move from the pain, all he could think was that this was the happiest time in his life.
-On the day of his disposal, Huxley bought him supposedly so Bennett could be used as the face of his research toward curing the incurable Eye Plague. This was all a facade though, and the real research was to use Bennett to test the capabilities of a human specimen. Only to confirm that there was no real difference between humans and overmen, something that if it was found out would become a threat to their entire society. So they needed to find a new home.
-And that’s how war criminal Huxley and his workforce of freed test subjects came to Earth to continue doing war crimes in the name of science.
-Huxley was the one who taught him how to read and write
-Fully aware of how Huxley is. Doesn’t care. Empathy is for people who weren’t raised like lifestock and have the luxury to feel bad for someone other than themselves.
-Hates being sober because being off his medication hurts. Likes it better when everything’s kind of hazy and he always feels happy no matter what’s going on. Stops taking his medication during Felix’s final week every time, which leads to withdrawal symptoms like throwing up. Claims it’s because he hates the olive flavored version, and that’s the only ones left - but Felix has noticed him hiding the non-olive ones in the bathtub.
-Likes binge watching soap operas and anime because it lets him understand a story through spoken language rather than reading, which he’s not too good at. Especially likes analyzing plots and characters to his friends.
-Normal personality is blunt, sarcastic, and extremely callous. Complains a lot, and somewhat socially awkward and can only rely on his own interests to keep conversations going. Impulsive and can do things he might regret when he’s angry (usually something violent). He’s always jumpy, he just hides it better when he’s sober, but he hates it when people approach him from behind. Was also very moody at the beginning but less now.
-When on medication, he tends to be cheerful and erratic, and will make jokes at even the worst times. His jokes are still a mix between morbid and sarcastic though despite his cheery facade. He’s also more careless and forgetful due to the medication, and says thinking is hard when he’s like this but he prefers it that way. A side effect of the medication is inhibiting the prefrontal cortex functionality, not that he had much empathy for strangers in the first place.
-Was originally called B12 (rank and number), but so very happy he has a name now. It makes him feel more assured? Not quite the right word; but anyways he likes having his own name.
-CANNOT COOK. Never again. Last time he tried to cook, it ended up destroying the entire kitchen.
-Q84 says she can’t expect a coherent response from him when he’s medicated.
-Follows Huxley’s orders when he’s told to kill the failed experiment. Would be easier on him if he wasn’t sober, and even Felix doesn’t understand why he chooses to stop dosing during his final week.
-Always tells Felix they won’t be friends in the next life. They’re still friends.
