After some contact with the Scorpion Grass, the parents weren't just bleeding hearts, rather- they became enamored with the idea of love and soulmates.
Every time a nest of theirs hatches, they tell stories about friendship and love. While they're not the most efficient match-makers like their Aberration neighbors, they're all committed to whatever or whoever they love the most.

However, as their name implies- they are especially prone to heartbreak and distress. Depending on the circumstance- if something happens to whatever or whoever they love, their hearts have been known to harden and turn into stone as their once stained manes/plumages turn colorless and void. While a majority will sulk with grieving tears, just a few would be able to open their heart to love once again.

After all. They never forget.
