↞ [ MYSTERIOUS FOREST ] ↠
Somewhere in Sornieth, deep inside a forest, lives a spirit named Gavin. Legends say he can grant wishes, but only to those he deems worthy. This forest attracts so many visitors, who all think they are worthy of receiving Gavin's grace... But few of them care about those that never came back...

“Have you come here hoping for a wish to be granted? Ah, but first I must ensure you are worthy. Have you been good? I hope so. Otherwise, who knows what I will do to you...”

Contrary to popular beliefs, Gavin isn't just a 'gentle spirit that grants wishes to anyone that visits him'. Sure, he is a powerful being that can grant wishes... but that doesn't mean he will do so for just anyone! You have to be worthy to receive Gavin's graces, and for that, you need to be a good person. How good do you have to be? Well, nobody knows for sure... After all, there are stories of people who had done only a single good thing and were rewarded with enormous wealth, while others had done many good things during their entire life, and yet didn't get even a quarter of that. But then again, those are just stories, which might not even be set in truth... After all, it would be easy for someone to lie and say they received a lot, or nothing much, despite the exact opposite happening. As a result, the idea of getting an unfulfilling reward didn't deter many people... and it certainly didn't deter the kind of people Gavin didn't want to see!

Gavin is often visited by people he despised - thieves, murderers, and other kinds of scummy lads he couldn't help but loathe. He could sense these things, with his powers, and he just knew when someone had done bad things in their lives, when someone had caused suffering and destruction... And so he avenges those that are mourning. When a criminal comes to him, asking for a wish that they clearly don't deserve to receive, Gavin will offer to play a game: win and get your wish, or lose and be punished. Some are bright enough to refuse, but it doesn't matter at this point, as they have already lost. Much like those that did accept and played, but oh well, the game is rigged anyway: they had lost the moment they set foot in the forest.

Gavin is a spirit, a powerful one at that. But he has one weakness: he is eternally stuck inside that forest he appeared in, and he simply cannot leave. Condemned to a life of solitude, stuck in a cage made of trunks and leaves, the punishment the outlaws received from him was the same as his: they lost their freedom, and became prisoners of the mysterious forest. But Gavin doesn't just let them wander the forest freely, no. He takes the offenders' souls, and as their bodies are consumed by the forest, all that is left are wisps. They cannot leave and cannot do much, except listen to Gavin's pleas to the Gods to be freed from the forest.

Idea 1: A (male) criminal/assassin/bad guy comes to Gavin wishing for his little sibling to be saved from a deadly illness. Gavin is conflicted because, on one hand, the wish is a good wish, but on the other hand the person doing the wish is a bad guy - and granting that wish would go against his principle. The bad guy is selfless enough that he doesn't even want to play Gavin's game, and so he doesn't care if he has to give up his life to save his sibling - he knows he's a bad person that has done horrible things, so he's ready to sacrifice his life to save them. Gavin offers him another type of deal then: he will save the sibling but the assassin has to stay in the forest with him for an undetermined amount of time, and cannot leave the forest under any circumstances. He surprisingly agrees, and so he ends up staying with Gavin.
After some time, this assassin makes Gavin realizes that sometimes people do bad things for good reasons, as this assassin has mostly killed people that had done something bad themselves. In exchange, Gavin tells him his biggest secret: that he's stuck inside the forest and cannot leave the forest. The people he curses become souls that can't leave the forest either, so they're the sole company he gets, and why he made that deal with the criminal in the first place. He would have felt bad about dooming someone that clearly felt regrets for their actions and made a selfless wish, but it would go against his morals to let a killer go.

Idea 2: The sibling from the idea n°1. Cured from their illness, they search around Sornieth for their older brother until they hear of the spirit that grants wishes in the forest. The kid ends up finding their brother again, and decides to live in the villager closest to the forest, often visiting their sibling. Gavin quite likes the little fella, due to their fiery character and their lack of fear towards Gavin and the souls inhabitting the forest.

Notes for art:
- The daredevil cover is optional, as long as his eyes are drawn cyan/teal (like lightning eyes) instead of red.
- His antlers aren't a flat color, instead they have a teal gradient at the tips (see gijinka in bio for reference)
- The only part of his accent that has to be drawn is the under-neck part. The patterns on his cheeks/shoulder/leg don't have to be drawn, as well as the part on his wings, arms, and the back on the neck (basically, the accent is there to hide the empty part of capsule).
