~*~*~*~

Drakoria, or Dra, had been a hungry little child in her earliest days. Ravenous, even. The food of her clan was not enough to sustain her monstrous appetite, and the little tundra dragon longed for lush foliage of the most delectable variety. A kind that the Scarred Wastelands could not provide.

Not knowing how she could gather such foods for herself, she sat on the border by the Sea of a Thousand Currents, staring wistfully at the full, green-laden lands that were very much far away... And then she got an idea. Looking at her wings, the hatchling concluded that she could merely fly there, have some lunch, and then make it back for dinner! If adults could do it, why couldn't she? it didn't look that hard, after all. Blissfully ignorant to the real danger of her impulsive quest, Dra leaped from the plagued edge fearlessly and confidently, flapping her little wings as she held her head high with pride in her genius.

And then she fell.

Too heavy from her lavish eating habits to be supported by such young wings, she couldn't stay aloft. Plummeting into the sea below with a pitiful cry, the chubby hatchling sunk quickly, being unaware as how to actually fly. When all seemed lost, and the tasty seaweed she found herself amongst seemed intent to eat her instead, a pair of tiny talons enclosed around her broad waist, and quickly scooped her up.

Breaking through the water's surface, little Dra gasped for precious air, her thick fur completely soaked, only adding to the weight. When she turned to see whom held her, she saw a tiny male fae barely bigger than herself, grunting painfully as he tried in desperation to keep her afloat.

"You! Too Heavy!" He squeaked, his face puffing from the effort he was putting forth to try and keep her afloat. Then he seemed to get an idea... With a sudden wild flap of his wings, magic engulfed them both, and then he let her go. Dra barely let out a shocked scream as she sank once again. She fought against the water with all her might, but only managed to plummet like a stone.

"Stop fussing! I put a spell on you so that you might breathe under water, it's quite easier if you just calm yourself." The adult fae huffed indignantly, swimming around her with a disapproving frown, his elegant strokes only making her fumbling look more pathetic.

'Is he crazy!?' She thought to herself, fear insisting she try to hold her breath, lest she die. her cheeks puffed until she could hold it no more, and reflexively sucked water into her lungs in place of air. To her great surprise, what the fae said seemed to be happening! She could breathe! The stunned look followed by bright joy at being alive was only rivaled in bliss by the loud laughter that suddenly erupting from the fae.

"I told you so." He stated, self important once he had regained his composure. Again her cheeks puffed out, but this time in embarrassment and irritation. "Oh, don't look at me like that...!" The male glowered. "I can't help it if you land-dwellers look funny when you panic over such a small thing-"

"Small thing!?" The little tundra dragon interrupted, nearly exploding at the seams with anger and indignation as she tried to turn to look at him, though only managed to roll upside down awkwardly in the water. "Don't you tell me that, Mister Oh-So-Magical!" She snapped, trying desperately to orient herself, but only continuing to fail. "I could have died! Why, I almost did, in fact! That's not funny at all!"

The other dragon stared at her blankly a moment, blinking his large blue eyes as if trying to understand her. "But you didn't and I actually informed you that you could breath, but you panicked anyway." He stated in a matter-of-fact tone, pointing a single talon at her cooly. "Not to mention no one threw you off that cliff. I saw the whole thing, you jumped right off all on your own." He added, puffing his small chest out defensively.

"How dare you!" She snarled, a sound that hardly sounded intimidating. "I almost flew! I just-just-...!" She stammered, unable to think of a believable excuse. Frustrated and embarrassed beyond anything she had felt before, as well as the fear from moments ago still lingering, she finally succumbed to the stress. Breaking into streaming tears, the little hatchling began to wail loudly.

"O-oh dear, don't do that...!" The fae pleaded, looking startled and abashed, surprised by the sudden outburst. He had not intended to upset her nearly this much, but vain as he was, he had gotten lost in the argument, momentarily forgetting that she was but a child who could barely flap her wings.

~*~*~*~

It took quite some time to finally calm her down, but eventually the fae, Drakorius as he was named, discovered that food happened to do just the trick. Instantly, in fact. The hatchling could not remember how to get home, and so Rainkeeper, Drakorius' mate, declared that the tundra dragon would stay with them and become a member of their clan, instead.

It did not take long for the fae to learn that the little hatchling was shockingly gifted with magic, especially for having such a limited-seeming mind. Upon learning this, he decided she would be his new heir, as his last had left the clan to seek fortune and glory elsewhere amongst the clans within the Viridian Labyrinth. Naming the child Drakoria, it was his final seal on her new status.

None of this really meant much to Drakoria, however. Her only concern at any given time was the lush and plentiful plant-life the sea offered, and a cozy bed to sleep in after she had eaten her fill. Drakoria soon met another female hatchling belonging to the clan, a wildclaw named Rosequartz who had been rescued from a terrible storm by Rainkeeper. The two quickly became fast friends, and to this day spend all their time together if they can.

This, of course, means trying to skip and dodge Drakorius' lessons, something that vexes the little fae patriarch to no end.
