image by @ChekhovsGunman 		Saiya touched a claw to his eye and sighed; it was weeping again. He wiped the sludge from the corner of his eye and blinked his second lids to clear it out. Flicking his tongue around his muzzle he cleaned the rest of the residue.

He uncurled slowly, stretching his forelegs and shaking out his crests. Truffle trotted up to him and sniffed his snout, cramming his head against him.

“Mmm, time for breakfast already?” Saiya asked, headbutting Truffle gently back before moving over to the prey pile and separating out a couple sparrows. Saiya gnawed on his breakfast, watching Truffle pounce on the bird he had tossed him, batting it around on the rocky, hay-dusted floor of the lair.
The morning light had begun to filter through the scraps of cloth curtains covering the arch that led outside into the central clearing. Truffle’s ears flipped towards it as the low murmurs of the other representatives emerging from their lairs for their morning meeting began to fill the clearing. Saiya paused, summoning a flicker of foxfire to brighten the room further before he began to gather his drapes and sashes. He focused for a moment, and the air around him shivered as a circle of brambles appeared and encircled his head.

“C’mon, Truffle,” he said, making his way towards the arch, “Time to start our day.”

He slunk past the curtain, pausing in the entryway to blink his second lids back down to guard against the bright morning sun. Truffle squeezed past to go bounding into the clearing, tackling Skor’s familiar and yipping with delight at seeing her.
