When Aella was a young hatchling, she was all alone. She isn't certain how she got that way, but her earliest memory is her own tiny feet splishing through a marshy, grassy area in the rain. The loneliness in that memory is staggering for her to consider. She doesn't mind the loneliness now. She can take care of herself, thank you very much! No one else is needed.
She sleeps in any shelter she can find, constantly moving, never in the same place twice. As she has always been small for her age, she can easily hide from whomever owns the spot she is staying in.
But one chilly night, she was lucky enough to find an abandoned airship, laying out in the middle of the forest! She could tell it had been untouched for a while, as nature had started reclaiming it as her own. Moss was growing up the sides, saplings poking up through the cracked windows. She figured it was a safe bet.
She wiggled in, avoiding the broken glass, and found a nice, cozy corner to rest in. Sooner than she expected, she was awakened by a slight bump. How odd. She didn't remember falling asleep.
Wait. What was that bump? She was in a broken airship! What could possibly be bumping?!
She hurried to the window, and as she peered outside, she was stunned. This was an entirely different landscape than she had left upon entry!
There was purple crystal sticking up from the ground all over, and that was all the eye could see. She knew, on instinct, that she was in the land of the Arcanist now. How? Great question.
