I want somewhere to log all my thoughts and experiences while playing Undertale for the first time, so that will be here. I know the first time is everything.

Day 1. Named my character Frisk because I thought that was the default name. I wandered the ruins and as I encountered monsters, I struggled a lot. I thought I was just bad at the game. I reached Toriel’s fight and beat her, but then I found out I was playing on Hard Mode and it ends at Toriel’s fight! I started over with the name Soleil. Also, Toriel’s theme absolutely slaps.

Day 2. I got through the Ruins really fast, all the monsters were much easier! I reached Toriel in no time. I knew what to do this time, and I decided to Spare her. I knew I had to move on but staying with her felt like it would be right. (I actually opened my phone and called her “Mom” at some point!) Leaving her was hard.
I reached Snowdin and encountered Sans and Papyrus, who I had known about since before I started Undertale. They were so goofy, Sans’ jokes are so bad they’re great. I love how it zoomed in on him after he dropped a joke! I’m currently making my way through the puzzles.

Can I call Toriel again? I want to try later. Also, is her name Toriel as in tuTORIAL or something? The Ruins are a kind of tutorial/prologue.

Day 3. I tried calling Toriel . . . She didn’t pick up, sadly. I got to Papyrus’ fight. I killed him. Why did I kill him? I don’t really know why. Maybe it’s like Flowey was talking about. I kept moving on and encountered Undyne. I’m quite proud of myself because I figured out how to get through the maze by following Undyne’s platforms!
I beat Undyne! The fight gets easier the more you try it. I played Mettaton’s quiz show. Weirdest quiz show ever. Oh god how is the scientist going to react when she finds out I killed Undyne? Oh shoot.

Day 4: Made my way through the Hotlands and got to Mettaton’s last fight. i am . . . Scarred for life. That was disturbing.

I learned Asriel’s story. Oh my Arceus the house looks like Toriel’s. The king looks like Toriel. I miss Toriel. I’ll call her before the end. Is there a Sans fight? If so I haven’t gotten to it. I talked to him and I feel awful now.

Day 5. Reached The End and fought Asgore. I completely freaked out during the entire fight, haha. Luckily I was surrounded with people who’ve played Undertale too, and they helped me out. One actually beat Asgore but I reset do I could do it. I beat Asgore and spared him, but SOMEBODY killed him. I really wanted him to live. When he mentioned butterscotch pie I looked up at my friend like “please I dont want to kill him” Is Toriel Asgore’s wife? It makes sense. Oh I really wish I could stay with them here. I miss Toriel. I miss Asgore, despite only knowing him for a little while.

Flowey. The most disturbing thing on this planet. I was just freaking out the entire time. Also, the different attacks for the souls? Are they like what happens when you become that color? Like, yellow shoots bullets and you have to jump for blue.

I don’t feel satisfied. I truly wanted a happy ending. I wish Asgore could live. I feel empty.

I’m going to do Pacifist next. Maybe then I can correct my mistakes.
