The exalt escort leads the abberition to the pillar.
It's dark and uninviting, though the mother will soon light it up, as she accepts her sacrifice.
Vendor is new to this, and hasn't been an exalt escort for long, just over a few weeks.
The child is kicking and biting and yelling, and very much wishes to be back with her parents.
Vendor closes his eyes in a sigh, but drags on.
To the pillar.

The sky is unnasuming, as it usually is. There is no indication that it'll open up in just a few minutes. But he had been in training for a long time, and knew how this worked.
The childs expressive yellow eyes stared up at him, pupils small and frightened.
He put her on the pedestal, and she sat quietly, more frightened than anything now.
"Hush, hush," he said gently. To her, this was just a rock.

"Everything will be alright, Mother will be kind, not to worry," he said in a practiced calm voice, brushing down her feathers.
He looked up at the sky, and gave a tentative step back from the pillar. The little hatchling watching after him.
The beam of light would be here any second, and he's careful not to stand too close.
The little one looks at him, and chirps frightened. The pillar is too big for her to jump down.
As he looks at her, he begins getting goosebumps, his hair rising. It is like electicity gathering close by, the air tense with it.
Then, the dark skies turn from dark to Light in a second,
but a terrible BOOM cracks through the skyline.

The pillar makes a loud cracking noise, followed by a very high frightened yell, and himself falling backwards.
The heavens had opened. But it had opened for thunder.

He looks carefully up at the pillar, hoping the sacrifice was uncompromised.
Just as he saw the pillar was empty, a shocking gasp left him.
Below the pillar, on the ground, lay the little hatchling.
The light of the mother was too late?

He hurries closer, and lifts her wing away from her face, to check her breathing.
He falls back in horror.
The sacrifice was not too late.
The thunder was too sudden.

The abberition's light yellow eyes and dark pupils had turned to.. glowing opals. No pupil what so ever, and the bubbles from the opals seemed to seep through around her back and legs.
The sudden blast had interupted the Lightweaver...
Never before had anyone seen a dragon escape the pillar. And perhaps, for good reason.

Whatever happens when the Mother accepts them.. it was perhaps not as sudden and painless as he had been taught.
The hatchling unconcious, the sacrifice contaminated, his mouth set in a straight line. He picked her up, afraid to touch the glowing opals. It might not be wise to give it to the Mother now, it's better to take her home.
