· biography ·
Temeraire was born a beautiful, well-loved young Imperial. Despite the cold southern winds, he was always warm, surrounded by his siblings and family, and was taken care of. That is, until the point came when slavers attacked his clan and took many of them in tow. Temeraire, being the most beautiful out of his siblings, was immediately hauled off toward the Plaguelands, in the hopes to be sold for a pretty coin to the clutches of the famous clan Legion. His siblings thankfully went to other clans to be either set free or kept for fighting. However, Temeraire was not so lucky. The leader of Legion, Cassius, took one look at him and ordered him to join him. Temeraire obliged, taking a place beside Cassius and remaining there. He became Cassius' lover, and eventually did fall in love with the side of Cassius no one else saw. However, Cassius would never allow anyone to see him like that and live to tell the tale. He made plans to be rid of Temeraire, until the triplets asked him to keep the Imperial for them. He reluctantly agreed, but warned Temeraire if he ever spoke of anything that the Wildclaw would kill him. Temeraire, blinded by love, gave in, swearing he would never speak of it. He began to train alongside the triplets, each of whom was impressed with him in some way. Lalwende remarked at one point that if she ever chose a mate, it would likely be him. Yet she never did, perhaps for the best. However, this life with the triplets was much harder than being Cassius' lover, and he did not relish the time spent in the battlefield. It wasn't until the triplets told him what their plan was that he realized he needed to leave Legion, and leave fast. However, Legion wouldn't just let him go. He had seen and heard too much. Cassius, turning a blind eye to the dragon he had claimed behind closed doors to love, ordered Azir to be rid of him after Temeraire was caught trying to sneak out. Before Azir could do anything, Auroral Dissonance struck, leading the clan into battle. Temeraire seized the chance and bolted away from the clan, fully intending to leave them behind. Cassius, in a split moment of weakness, saw him leaving and called out to him, leading the dragon to pause in his race for freedom. As he paused, a stray spell from Anduin struck Temeraire in the side and caused him to fall to the ground, writhing in pain. Cassius rushed to him, but under a glare from Mother, he looked down at the dragon and reached out to kill him. Temeraire stared up at the dragon he loved and whispered for mercy. Cassius, in a split second, threw Temeraire off the cliff they were standing on and into the waters below. The Imperial wasn't sure if this was a mercy or an actual attempt to kill him. Either way, he was free of Legion, and he intended to get as far as possible. He was weak from the spell that hit him, so he was only able to make it to shore before he collapsed. As the night turned to day, he realized that if he continued to lay on the shore, he would most definitely die. Lifting himself up, he forced one foot in front of the other until he made it across the shores of the Water territory and over to the shores of the Light territory, where he collapsed again, this time passing out half alive. When he came to, there was a beautiful bright Obelisk standing next to him alongside two Sandsurges. When Temeraire lifted his head, the Obelisk quickly moved to support him, calming him down and ensuring him that he was safe. The two Sandsurges looked at him and spoke almost in unison about their sight, and told him that he was the key to building a better place for other dragons that had escaped Legion. That caught him off guard - he hadn't even mentioned Legion, yet they somehow knew about him. The two explained that in time, he would know but that they were there to help. With their help, and the Obelisk - Aeolus as he came to know him, and the two Sandsurges were Ophion and Kylas - they started the town of Storm Reach, and began providing help to those escaping Legion, and ensuring that trade routes to Legion were equipped with the extra help they needed. Occasionally he wrote letters to Cassius and sent them off, but never received one back. That was fine to him, though he eventually stopped writing to the dragon that had changed his life. In his last letter he told Cassius of a strange occurrence, how his wings were beginning to take on rather strange dark veins and markings across them, and how hard it was for him to fly anymore. It wasn't long after that that a small bottle arrived for him with no note. The couriers simply said that they were told to give it to the blue Imperial. When pressed for answers on who gave it, they only said that a strange dragon dressed in all black handed it and gave instructions. Recovery is slow-progressing for Temeraire, in several ways, but he is achieving his goals one by one. He just needs Pebble to stop trying to put rocks in his shoes. |
