fae/faer pronouns

Faeshine was born with petals on faer coat and fireflies were always drawn to fae as fae was kin. But one day Faeshine was taken and expirements performed on faer to turn faer into a weapon. Faer's skin is now toxic to touch. Fae now breathes out poison. But fae was able to escape before they took faer's wings. Now fae covers up as much of faer skin and wears a gas mask to protect other dragons. Fae does not want to be the weapon fae was forced to become. Fae doesn't know who took fae, but is trying to find out.

My gut instinct with Faeshine is that he literally breathes poison (whether it's a kind of overpowering magic or literal poison doesn't really matter). He takes precautions before dealing with others, the mask, the umbrella, lots of well covering clothes. Maybe he was created as a science experiment or war machine and now has to deal with every day life? I eat up stories that look into that kind of psychology
