He was born blind. It shocked all those present at his Hatching Day.
He never spoke, falling far behind the other hatchlings in development. Until, one day, he suddenly spoke, in a soft, clear voice, "Mum? May I have a Familiar now?"
His whole family was stunned. It seemed that he was capable of speech the whole time, and had just... never needed to. Until now. Apparently, he was lonely. None of the others spoke to him, as they all thought he was odd. The strange blind son of the powerful Mage. But he could also feel an odd feeling building up inside him, and he knew, by instinct, that he needed an outlet for it all or there would be serious trouble.
