ForScythe can interpret any unknown language and is able to convert it to their dominant language. She can do this because of her Alien origin, because of her genes she has a mutation of Long tentacle like receptors that bring in sound and breaks it down then it makes the alphabet in ForScythes mind. The alien gene is like a library of knowledge of everything they found. ForScythe even says that the alien can speak to her and give her advice, its almost like a deeper conscious. it is harder for her to read written languages but if they are engraved into the material she is able to touch it and it sends the readings to the alien mutation.

She attends every convoy the project sends out because she is the one with the most important job if they find another language or anything written.

ForScythe is currently training others who are and are not like her. You don't need the mutation to learn. ForScythe has written most of the foreign alphabets on scrolls in her library which her students can use and study. Although any one can learn the ones with the alien mutation tend to learn it faster and attend more missions than others.
