Lammergeier

Bones lay scattered at her feet, some carved with runes that glow softly in red, the marrow within enchanted with putrid magic. They are in an order only she can see.

Blind, milky white eyes stare at them intently, black feathers flared, the bare bone of the top of her head gleaming in the sickly green light of the Boneyard's distorted sunlight.

She lifts her head sharply, the antlers on her head clattering against the bones that decorate them, then she tilts her head quickly, bird like, focused on the empty space before her.

"Of course it still burns. If it ever stopped, I would be blind. It always burns."

She focuses her blind eyes on the bones again.

"Mother slay me if I ever went cold. The silence alone would be torture that would make me wish for death."
