Celozon

for the older brother (80) - general premise was a case of "i could have saved him" (the younger brother), in which he lost him to something despite his efforts. so he'd live his life in guilt of that, and would try to pay penance for his mistakes, but with a void that can't seem to be filled

for the younger brother (81) - this got a lot more detailed. given they were exalted to the icewarden, this had me thinking of the fortress of ends. perhaps the brother were committing crimes, more as raucous scoundrels than true criminals, but they Screwed Up Badly, and sent to prison

they were both sentenced, but with a condition for bail: either they both go to jail for a set amount of time, or one could go free, but the other must pay double the time, which would turn into life sentence. the older brother, who felt protective over the younger brother and responsible for the situation that got them there in the first place, offered himself for the double time to let his younger brother free. the rest turns into dialogue:

"What?! Rav, no! What are you doing? We could serve together and both be free!" Celozon rushed to his brother, grabbing him by the shoulders to face him.

Ravager gently knocked Celozon's arms off of his shoulders and sighed with accepted remorse. "No, Cel, this is my choice. You didn't deserve any of this, or anything that could happen to you here. I'm the reason we're here."

"Rav, I was involved just as much as you were. I was there with you." By now, Celozon had tears pouring from his eyes, stinging his cheeks as the frigid air chilled them on his face. He knew Rav had made up his mind, but Celozon was ready to do everything he could to combat his brother's moral stubbornness, even though he already knew he'd always lose.

Ravager paused, dipping his head down, eyes closed. "You were there because you followed me, because I'm your brother. And because you love me. I know you do." Rav looked up again, his own eyes watery with affection. "And I love you too, Cel. And as your older brother, I want what's best for you. Please let me do this."

"But Rav," Celozon began, sniffling, "You'll never see freedom again if you do this! I'll never get to see you again!" Cel's gut wrenched, knowing with even more intense dread that even that argument would do nothing to change Rav's mind.

Ravager chuckled softly with fondness, smiling as he wiped the tears from Celozon's eyes. "Look at you, Cel. You're not fit for a place like this. I can handle my own here. I'll be fine - I'll find a way."

"But--" Cel began, interrupted by his brother:

"You have so much more to life for, Cel. Live it for both of us. I'll always be with you."

That was a request Celozon couldn't disobey. He dove into Rav's arms, squeezing him nearly to suffocation. Ravager laughed and returned the embrace, giving him a hug worth every hug he'd never be able to give his little brother again. A hug that would last him the rest of eternity in the Fortress of Ends.

Though tears streamed down his face, Celozon felt his brother's eternal love wrap around him, a memory that would last for the rest of his life. Consoled, he trusted his older brother, and with both grief and gratitude, told him, "Thank you."
