Redtide Dragons were first seen in the bright sunlit waters of the tropics. They descend from Guardians who sought to protect such areas and the mortals who dwelt there. The shallow seas and the inhabitants are often considered the charges of the Redtides. Those dragons of similar "Red" coloration, who are not of the water flight are referred to as Redguards.
A Redtide or Redguard often will appear in times of great need, their lovely hues enchanting many mortals who observe them. They have no documented effect on luck, but they do tend to attract those seeking wisdom or a blessing as they travel through the Dragon’s territory. Some may come from far on this quest. They rarely leave once they have found their ideal lair, and may provide protection to nearby villages or settlements.
Redtides and Redguards strongly prefer peace over war and tend to influence the nearby mortals to reduce conflict. They will become involved to protect their charges only as a last resort.
