Strudel
First Scout 
Strudel may be a sweet-sounding name, but this Ridgeback's personality is the opposite of her moniker. "Haughty" is the word most often used by her clan-mates to describe Strudel, although, once you get to know her, you will quickly realize that she's not stuck-up, she just prefers to keep to herself. Of course, you could count the number of dragons that know Strudel this well on one hand. Strudel doesn't bother to defend herself from the negative - and occasionally derogatory - comments from her clan-mates, either. Rather, she helps cultivate their opinions though even the smallest of her actions. Every aspect of her garments is carefully chosen to be both functional and yet instill a sense of "I'm Better Than You". Although Strudel doesn't care for other dragons, she takes a great amount of pride in her work as First Scout, and the functionality of her garb is impertinent to her tasks. As a youngling, Strudel worked hard to prove herself amongst her peers. She was quick and sharp-minded; there wasn't another dragon that could match her stealth as she slunk through forests, fields, and mires. When it came time for her mentor to retire, it was no surprise to any dragon that Strudel was chosen to take his place as First Scout. However, unbeknownst to any other, Strudel had a secondary motive for wanting to excel as a scout. Ever since she was a hatchling, Strudel has been fascinated with omens. Try as she might, she can't recall what triggered her obsession, but as soon as she learned to read, Strudel began learning all she could about omens, arcane symbols, runes, and everything in between. If there was knowledge to be had, Strudel would get her claws on it. As she grew older, Strudel began to believe that every sign she came across pointed to one thing: only she could save her clan from the Shade. Becoming First Scout was imperative to this mission - Strudel had to be the first dragon to cover new ground in order to properly collect the omens. Her lair - a deep, private cave that always smells like patchouli incense - is filled with signs that she has come across, "borrowed" from nature, Strudel says. Each of these omens has a negative association: death, sickness, or general bad luck. But within the confines of Strudel's cave their magics become void. You see, Strudel has taken it upon herself to protect the clan from as much evil as she possibly can. |
