Theia was born in the nature flight. Here in The Gladeveins the trees are always green and the sun is warm. The Green Grove is a peaceful clan, that avoids battle at all cost. Theia is loved by her two parents, Vic and Vela. She loves to play with all the hatchlings an Eternals in the Playroom, they spend their days frolicing in the grass and chasing butterflys. She was curious about adventuring outside of the Nature flight and so she decided that she would like to visit them all. Theia likes to make friends and go on fun adventures.
shadowtop2.png
Her new adventure draw her first over sea, the blue waves looked like a painted wall under her eyes, the salty, fresh air tickled in her nose untill she finally spotted some land.

She heard from this place before, the Shadow Clan!
This place was so much different then the Nature Domein, where rich grass grow in her home, was the ground here cold and dark. Brambles cutted out the sun and only strange glowing mushrooms between rotting wood and moss spending the little female some light.

"oh hello, little one." , a dark figure seperate himself with calm voice from a dark spot, a huge female Imperial with scales of a nightsky rounded the little guardian, behind her fly golden flakes of sparkles and vanish into nothing, her eyes glowing interested in a mysterious violet. Theia was frozen in fear.

"oh, don't be afraid, I mean no harm! I'm Aurelia and you?" ,chirped the Imperial as she sat down tilting her head curious, "I never saw you in our lair, your eyes telling me you are from the Nature flight."

The Guardian nod excited, "yes! I'm Theia, nice to meet you! I want to see all the other flights and meet new friends!" , from her fear before not a trail left, Aurelia laughed amused, "then welcome! stay as long as you want and come, I'll show you our home."

what before looked dark and fearfull, with threats arround each corner, seems now a warm and welcoming place, the prey was looking so different here, did this mouse really have glowing eyes??
Aurelia was so excited to show Theia arround, show how the Shadow Clan lives, introduce new friends and after playing with the shadow hatchlings had no one expected that this day ended so soon.
With a big yawn she curled right besides the Imperial, spiky brambles and old wood her nest for now. "tomorrow...", she mumbled exhausted, "tomorrow I'll visit the next one.."

The next day took her far, far across Sornieth, to a place that looked nothing like home. The land was a vast open space covered in glistening ice, and snow drifts that varied in size, sometimes a light sprinkling on the land, and other times the snow was easily taller than she was. Unfortunately, none of the snow was as soft as it looked. The plants were sparse, and the trees were prickly. Like the thorns that had decorated the brambles in shadow, except they grew where leaves should be. They were green like home though.

The wind howled, with none of the thick forest to block out the noise, and with it came more snow. Theia was so distracted by the storm that she didn't see the brown Gaoler until it called out. "Hatchling, what causes you to wander these frozen lands?"

Theia froze for a moment, surprised to see another dragon. "I'm Theia! I'm traveling because I want to see all the flights. I mean, there is a whole world to see!"

The Gaoler smiled. "My name is Aashi, it is a pleasure to meet you. If you wish to join me, I am on my way back to Everhearth. There you will find a place to rest, as well as food to eat, and supplies for your journey. There is a storyteller in town as well, although by Icewardens ears Lyx can be trying at times". She huffed, "No matter, I am sure the story will be enjoyable, especially for a traveler such as yourself, young one."

Aashi began walking in the direction of the town, and Theia bounded after her.

"Gather round, gather round, for I have a tale to tell tonight" The storyteller called to the growing crowd. Theia, fortunately, had a spot near the front. As the crowd eventually settled, the Spiral gave a charming smile. "I hope everyone is settled, for this is the legend of how plants came to the Southern Icefields"

"In a time long ago, the lands of the Icewarden were even more barren than they are now, for no plant could grow in these frozen lands. The tundra, now covered in evergreens, was but dirt and ice, and so cold that it was impossible to dig in. In this time, there was a Gaoler named Squall.

Squall was a member of the seeker order, and had traveled far and wide in her hunt for the shade. In these travels to other lands, she saw so much life. Forests filled with prey and bountiful harvests of crops. This was not like her home, where food was scarce. She asked her Commander one day why there was such little life in their home. Surely it would be better for everyone if there was enough food to go around? But her commander told her that if Icewarden had wanted plants, he would have created them. Her priority should be the shade, and the shade alone.

But Squall saw a chance for better, and she would take it. So she hatched a plan, and began trekking to the Viridian Labyrinth. When she got there, she stole a single seed. The Gladekeeper had flooded Sornieth with all manner of plants, surely this seed could survive.

Squall ran back to the Southern Icefields. She ran for seven days, and seven nights, not daring to rest, for she worried about the shade that still prowled the land. Squall safely made it back to the lands of the Icewarden, and kept running, aiming for the heart of the lands. She crossed the ice flows with ease, and continued to run. But the world was treacherous in these times, and she ran into a pack of beasts afflicted with the shade. Squall fought hard, and with all her heart, but she was tired from running. She drove back the beasts singlehandedly, and they say that fear could be seen in the eyes of the shade.

Squall had, however, been injured in the fight, and while she kept running, soon she found that she could run no more. Something remarkable happened, however. The plant seed that Squall had carried found purchase in the frosty soil, and the first evergreen was born. Perhaps the Icewarden had taken pity on her efforts, perhaps her soul had continued to protect the seed even in death, no one quite knows how, but life was brought to the lands. The evergreens flourished and grew, we honoured Squall by naming the Snowsquall Tundra after her, and some say that her soul can still be found amongst the evergreens."

It wasn't until late that night that Theia finally settled down to sleep by the fire, a pack of supplies by her side. It had been a great day, and she was just as excited to see what tomorrow would bring. Perhaps it would be nice to see a colour other than white and green. Maybe it was time to visit a land of pink.

Flown out north from the Southern Icefield, over the Frigid Floes and the dark blue ocean which bordered the western side of the continent, the Traveling Dragoness landed somewhere within the Crystalspine Reaches of Arcane. It was quite different than the Domain of Ice. The air seemed to be both hot and cold at the same time, and the ground itself hummed with the vibration of arcane energies.

Taking a moment to analyze her surroundings, Theia noticed it seemed to be raining-- but the rain was luminescent, somehow, as if even the water itself was charged with magical energies.
The sound of otherworldly birdsong echoed from somewhere far off, mixed with the familiar sounds of crickets and canaries, and there was a sort of ambiance that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

An odd scent seemed to hang in the air. Some sort of animal, a Zeeba perhaps, grilled over an open fire? Or a cascade of flower petals, as sweet as sugar and silk-woven honey?
Theia wasn't sure if it was an illusion or not. She'd heard of the magic of Arcane doing odd things sometimes, and didn't want to risk a run-in with any of the local fauna if she could avoid it. Arcane creatures outside of their domain were already unpredictable, and she certaintly didn't want to encounter one with virtually no limit to its available power in its own territory.
But Theia was hungry, and the food smelled good. It didn't seem off, but an outsider never really knew what was real or not in this place.
Her ears shifted as she listened for something in the wind. There it was again- the sound of music and laughter, of chatter and songs. Surely something so complicated couldn't have been fake, she decided.

With a few wingbeats, Theia took flight, diving beneath the hooked, crystal-like growths of the ocean-bound mountains.

Sat upon a rickety old wooden platform was a torch, one commonly used to light the way for travelers along paths. Odd that one should be present here, but a welcome sign of safety nonetheless.

Landing on the platform with a thud, Theia found it to be much stronger than it originally appeared to be. A wide cavern was clawed out inside the mountainside, scratch marks from long ago still visible in the crystalline stone. Within the cavern glew a flame, and the air inside was much more stabilized than the outside temperature.

Theia stepped inside the cavern into a tunnel lit by firelight. The shimmering pink stone glistened like a gemstone in the glow of the dancing flame, and the humming of arcane energy seemed to shake her very bones as she stepped upon the magically infused rocks.
Turning another corner, Theia gasped in wonder.
What was once a dark, damp tunnel had opened up into a huge cavern filled to the brim with things.
The roof was high enough to allow for free, unbound flight.

Sturdy wooden platforms were stuck seemingly wherever they were needed, and were thick enough that even the heaviest of Snappers could walk across them without worry.
Hanging lanterns of every color fell in strings across the cavern, illuminating every dark corner and mysterious crevice. Artworks adorned every surface- the walls were filled with statues and murals, each one made by hand, and where there wasn't paint or stone, there was all manner of tapestries, in virtually every color thread could be dyed in.

Star-filled luminescent vines hung from rope-bound flower pots and wooden window sills. There were miniature gardens seemingly everywhere, with all manner of Arcane plants growing- some of which even she, a Nature dragon, didn’t know existed.

As Theia took in the wonders of this strange place, she was awoken from her senses by a voice- small, but perfectly clear and sharp.

"Are you just going to stand there staring, or would you like to come inside?"

A curiously colored Veilspun sat upon a perch. The Mith next to her had a book of some sorts, and an oddly shaped writing instrument which Theia didn't quite understand.

"I'm Runy," the Veilspun continued, "and I act as sort of a check-in desk with my Mith friend here. Just tell me your name, and we'll sign you in. We do this to keep a record of who's been here, so we know who the new and recurring visitors are."

After Theia's introduction, Runy chirped something to the Mith, who jotted a series of unfamiliar symbols down in it's notebook.

Runy waved Theia inside, and with a few nervous steps, she was inside the cavern
A slow walk turned into a jog, into a gallop and a run, as her excitement grew and Theia leapt into the air.

Her wings brushed the roof of the cavern, leaving an iridescent dusting on her back that made Theia’s scales look as if they were speckled with stars. She swooped and swerved around the artificial gusts of wind that filled the open space, seeing where she would go if she followed them, and landed at the entrance to a room claiming to be the library.

Pushing the strands of cloth that served as a door aside, Theia poked her head into the significantly dimmer room. Instead of lanterns, this place was illuminated by bubblegum flames of pure Arcane magic. A round table sat in the center of the room, with various scrolls and sigils laid out across it.
Cushions, pillows and blankets were arranged in small piles near the sconces. Other dragons lay curled up, some with scrolls, some with books. One particular Fae had a set of runestones instead of literature.
The bookshelves were completely disorganized- nothing seemed to be where it should go.

By impulse, Theia stuck her talon inside the closest Arcane fire, and was surprised to see it did not burn her. Of course it didn’t, Theia realized. This was a library. Actual fire would have been a very poor decision.

Trotting inside, Theia walked up to one of the dragons. She figured that perhaps someone else would know their way around the library- especially one this disorganized.

The dragoness Theia chose to talk to was a rather elegant Skydancer.. She seemed to be looking through a series of scrolls with a curious expression on her face.

"Hello! I'm Theia- who are you?"

The Skydancer turned to look at Theia.

"Don't be so loud, little one. Libraries are meant to be quiet." The Skydancer paused for a moment, then continued speaking. "I'm Tallulah. What is it you need?"

Theia explained how she was exploring the clans of all the flights and going on a rather long journey, much to Tallulah's interest.

"You must be rather tired from such a journey, Theia. Perhaps you'd like to stop and rest in the library for now? After all, the clans aren't going anywhere."

A wave of fatigue washed over Theia as she realized it was true. She hadn't stopped to rest since she had left the Southern Icefield. Quietly thanking Tallulah for reminding her, Theia wobbled over to one of the empty blanket piles.

The fabric was very comfortable, Theia thought to herself. As she closed her eyes, she considered where to go next, and what she would do when she got there.
She'd find out in the morning, Theia decided.

But for now, it was time to rest.

Theia wasn't too confident about the Shifting Expanse. What little plant life she could see was grey and grizzled and covered in thorns. Dry lightning crackled in the sky despite the sun beating down relentlessly. And the sand and dust kept tripping her by slipping out from underneath her claws. How could any dragon live out here?

She frowned and thought about that. Surely there must be dragons out here... right? The Lightning flight had to live somewhere.

A hazy figure in the distance raised a wing and shouted something that sounded like "Aybeekeefundinotherun."

Theia squinted, confused, and began winging her way towards the other dragon, who started towards her, too. When the coatl came into view, he grinned, and Theia noticed his vibrant aqua eyes. Finally! A Lightning clan!

"Hey kid, you look lost. D'you need some help?" he asked. He spoke fast and kept twitching and dancing as he spoke, like it was hard for him to stay in one place. Theia was reminded of the dragonflies back home.

"Well..." Theia began. "My name's Theia. I'm on an adventure. I want to meet clans from every flight. Do you think I could meet your clan?"

The other dragon chuckled. "Of course! I've been looking for a good reason to get outta the sun. Hey Berg, ya lump of rubber!" He turned back to her. "I'm Norman, by the way."

Norman scampered over the crest of a dune, where a large guardian, who must've been Berg, rolled his eyes. Theia followed them.
/ - - /

The clan was a mess of tents and burrows that sank deep into the earth and cris-crossed rather haphazardly. Norman led Theia underground, where it was cooler, and offered her a burrow carved from the sandstone.

"Are you hungry, Theia?" Norman asked, digging through a crate.

"Sure! What do Lightning dragons eat?"

"Well I like these little crayfish myself. Colluber brings them back fresh from the deltas. Here, have one!"

Theia was gently surprised that there could be enough seafood in the desert to feed all the clans. But she still accepted the sparkly crustacean politely.

Life in the Lightning clan was very different. There was a thunderstorm nearly evening, but the dragons still went about with their business, even celebrating when lightning struck nearby. It was almost always busy, even in the dead of night. The dragons worked as a unit and looked out for each other. They got things done quickly and efficiently.

But although they seemed loud, busy, and unapproachable, the Lightning clan was eager to help Theia and show her things about life in the desert. Berg taught her how to walk on the dunes without slipping. Galia showed her how to remove the spines in order to eat a cactus. When nights were clear, Bougir pointed out the constellations. Yatalia demonstrated how the tangles of copper cables harnessed the electricity that arced overhead. But however different they were, they were still dragons, just the same.

When it came time for Theia to move on, Norman walked with her to the edge of the desert.

"Good luck, Theia, child of nature." He winked and raised a wing as Theia set off for her next adventure.
