The mighty imperial is a dragon breed beyond compare; yet upon death, they may transform into an Emperor. Lightweaver herself has condemned them as a mistake for this. Or has she? Achaius is certain that the mainstream ideas, from the Temples to the Lightweaver or the halls of the scholars, are wrong. The greatest and purest expression of Light is resurrection. Surely, if there is a weakness in imperials, it is merely that they refuse to embrace the light beyond. After all, the resurrected creatures of harpy ruins and long-ago ages are not mad. Knowing that she will be castigated for her heretical views until she can be proven right, Achaius plays the part of the quiet pearlcatcher outcast. She has friends amongst the Miscreants, but her relationship with Arietty is quite tense—ostensibly because the other pearlcatcher might reject her, but Arietty is, in fact, suspicious for reasons of her own. Craft Achaius is a skillful draftsdrake and anatomist, but has no formal craft yet. Physical description A small, stocky pearlcatcher with enormous cloaking wings, Achaius is at her best in the air, though she's a competent swimmer and climber as well, though by pearlcatcher standards she is ungraceful. She has a strange, harsh Light scent, like ionized air and parched bones. Combat As yet untested. |

Origin Achaius hails from the Clawrift Clan, a collection of mercenaries and scholars operating in the Hewn City. Fearing she would be cast out for her experiments, she fled steadily south until she found a clan at the border of Fire and Lightning. |

Kin Achaius is the daughter of Silver, a rogue pearlcatcher, and Nyx, an elegant and manipulative representative of Shadow. Of her siblings and half-siblings, the majority are now Exalted, but Johnny survives in the Emperor's Wake; Avon has moved to the Misfit's Landing in Terraclae; , Pankul, Maelog, Brood, and one other remain in the Hewn City. She has a surviving nephew at the Behemoth's roots as well. Two of her half-siblings, by the skydancer of Clawrift Clan, are somewhat more notable. Her older brother, Nolan, has also harnessed necromancy, more to the purpose of showing off the unworthiness of Imperials than for its own end. Her older sister Jarith, now of the Roseglades, is a highly-intelligent researcher in her own right—but would much rather destroy Emperors than make them. Her daughter, Narai, dwells, for now, on the Zephyr Steppes. |
