Zarya's gift of Sight was never particularly strong (which, honestly, might be expected with two Coatl parents), but it was always strong enough. Enough to get by by telling small fortunes to fascinated or sceptical travellers, enough to throw small bits of luck her way one by one and make sure that she lived a happy life. One of those small pieces of luck was shoving her in Alviss' path. The Lightgems were dying out, in desperate need of new blood, and she was compatible. They didn't particularly love one another, her and Alviss, but he sponsored her travels, was completely okay with her having other lovers, and gave her incredibly clever hatchlings to raise and love. She was happy. That was all she ever asked the Tidelord for, and it seemed like he favoured her for it.
