Biography

(This concept came from an OC world of mine, and I'm returning the fully fleshed out character to that world.)
Lyrus
Race: Elf
Archetype: Warlock
Class: Mindbreaker
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Hometown: Kier, Kierian Hierarchy

Mount
Essence the Great Wolfstrider, a breed of antelope usually used by the Kierian military. Lyrus is incredibly proud of his (absolutely "collected" from someone who couldn't pay their taxes) antelope, and it isn't unusual to see him riding Essence around the city of Kier, flaunting his social status and power over the city.

The Temple Tax Collector and everyone's least favorite person in Stillhart City. So evidently corrupt and yet no one removes him from his station. He may be corrupt and despised, but his nose for discerning discontent is next to none. He can be in a sea of discontent, and find the one person who actually wants to do something about it. As long as he is so useful to the clergy as an eye for descent (since everyone in the city has to talk to his crew), he can be as corrupt as he wants.
At this point, he might as well be the leader of a government-imposed crime syndicate.

As far as his crime boss style, he isn't particularly known for being a big guy or a bully, but his crew would die by the sword for him because they trust his plays, as well as the internal culture he has created.
They've seen the way he thinks, the way he does things. He knows when to go and when to stop, when to beg and when to be bold. When he sees a weakness--especially one that is being mistaken for strength or disregarded--he is quick to exploit it, hard. He's the kind of crime boss that may not have the big following or muscle of his competitors, but when the opportunity came, he knew exactly how to destroy his competition in one fell swoop.
Between his charisma, his history of being trustworthy to his crew, and the general way he runs things being meant to entice his men to look up to him as more than just a leader (almost god-like really), he hasn't had to deal with insurrection in a decade. They're all pretty well-brainwashed at this point.
He's credited for the destruction of pretty much every other crew in the city by his folks, but the reality is he had eyes, a brain, and a desire to not die himself. Forget everyone else--they're not important.
He's what's important. If he has to give up his dignity to survive, then so be it.

When the major crime syndicates turned the city into a war zone, most of the smaller syndicates ended up merging with the major ones in an attempt to survive. Lyrus knew that this would only end in his crew's extinction, because the government only let them all exist because they could benefit from them. Now that they'd gone and destroyed their toys and sent the people into a frenzy, they weren't going to be happy.
Lyrus stabbed them all in the back. In exchange for, ahem, amnesty, he would offer a long, long list of names and known locations that were involved, and he continued to play games in order to get as much information as possible. A risky venture, but when you're probably going to die and your only shot at survival is to get risky, he was willing to play games. But he knew the clergy well enough to know that wouldn't be enough.
He needed to offer his eyes. They'd dealt with a history of malcontent and even the occasional rebellion. If he could promise to make that all go away, then his crew would not just live, but be set for life.
