Pure G3 thirdborn

Along the waterways of Sornieth, you might find various dragons, hard at work catching fish. They may be laboring in teams, or they may be alone, waiting patiently for a bite on their lines.
Knave falls into this latter category. A golden Spiral with dark blue wings, he doesn’t stand out from the rest of his Light-born brethren. And truthfully, he prefers it that way.
He is a scion of the Restless Replicas—alchemically created beings who need affection to survive. But his ancestor, Marrow, tends to shrink from social interactions, and Knave himself is no different.
His childhood was something of a struggle as all around him, other hatchlings reveled in showing off their magic, spinning fireballs or illusions out of thin air. He, on the other hand, concealed his shapeshifting abilities as much as he could. He hated being gawked at whenever he transformed, hated the incessant requests—the demands—to turn into this or that thing.
It was no surprise that as he grew, he took to wandering farther and farther away from the lair. During his ramblings, he passed rivers, lakes, and the sea. Fisherdrakes worked here, swimming in deeper water or standing quietly on the shore with nets and lines.
And Knave, with his sharp eyes, noticed that passersby generally left these dragons alone. They weren’t scary or standoffish—far from it, in fact! When they met other fishers, they exchanged warm greetings and laughed heartily over one another’s tales. But for the most part, each fisher worked alone, ensconced in their own personal bubble of peace and solitude.
That, to Knave, looked like the ideal life. A few days later, he went to his clan’s general store and purchased his first net, rod, and tackle box.
That was many years ago, and since then, Knave has become quite a skilled fisher. He pops up in the lair from time to time to sell his catch and pick up supplies. But he never stays long. Once his business is concluded, he flies away, intent on finding a new fishing spot.
He won’t turn away anyone who strikes up friendly conversations with him, though there are some topics he’ll strictly avoid. Don’t ask him to shapeshift, for a start. Even his own family can’t get him to budge on this matter. And definitely don’t mention that strange creature—or wraith, or whatever it is—that’s been seen flitting through farmers’ fields. It’s a particularly sore point for the otherwise amiable Knave, and he’s been known to turn gruff, even irritable, when folks keep prattling on about it.
These encounters with other dragons tend to be few and far between. Knave is mostly alone, but by no means is he lonely. Out in the wilderness, he’s free to be who he wants: just a perfectly ordinary dragon, with no secrets or strange abilities to show off or to hide.
