Biography

I remember the first litter of this clan... It was just Iris and I back then. We had a modest nest with a mere two eggs. We were all on our own, very young, and very inexperienced. Our clan familiar, Pooka, was not around as much to guide us. For these reasons, we lost one of our children before they were born; the first and only egg death in the history of our clan. Though we were devastated, the hatching of the surviving egg made us hopeful again. As more hatchlings from other elemental affinities joined our ranks, we decided to let our first son set out to join a different clan as well. He bore no name, but soon found a wonderful home where he was lovingly named Seabiscuit. He lived a very long, prosperous life in his clan, with a mate and many friends. One day we learned that our first child, after all this time of prosperity, was honorably exalted to the Windsinger. Although we miss him (and all of our other children), we couldn't be more proud of the first child to come from Clan de Pooka.

Many of our children sadly were not even named before being exalted, but we pray that they at least felt honorable when they went. Back then, it wasn't apparent to the clan familiar that others may not feel the need to name our offspring. So we started naming them all before they set off. And later still, we were altered to have markings on our bodies, much like all of the newest clanmates that joined. There's something nostalgic about thinking of when we were 'plain' and the 'plain' children we brought into the world. It was simple back then. It's nice to think about the past.

Another fond memory is when a child of ours, 'plain' in markings and 'common' in species was honored with a beautiful set of speckled wings and fur. Not only that, but her entire species was changed to the rare and beautiful wildclaw species. It was a strange, but wonderful surprise. We didn't contact her much, but hoped she enjoyed her life as a species different from her parents! She was also honorably exalted after living a wonderous life.
