Hazz-Orca Friend Tril[short for trilobite]-Maren assistant of Liviu was from bioluminescence, deep-sea lava flows, and magical surges. the only exception was a pale blue glow emanating from a cave mouth near the bottom of one of the trench walls. Inside, the rough walls of the cave were lit by the softly glowing fauna growing in clumps across the entire ceiling. The light bounced off various corked vials and ampoules cluttering coral shelves set in the wall. Across the medium sized room was a bed made of seaweed with a slumbering form nestled within. Upon closer inspection one would find a large bearded dragon with horns made of coral. Off to the left was a cloak hung above a workbench littered with mortars, various ingredients and tools, and a large cauldron for mixing and cooking potions. On another wall was full of carefully catalogued ingredients and organized books and bound journals. opened. With a low purr, the figure spoke. this time a plump finned figure. Directly above them was a bunk where a longer finned-figure stirred revealing a humanoid torso. your master plan? It's not like it's going anywhere, you know" Tril grumbled while checking his pocket watch. Still muttering, he slumped back into his kelp nest, tail flicking in annoyance. exclaimed while he clambered out of the fibrous tangle of his bed. The smaller figure also arose, revealing a small orca. This was no ordinary orca, however. The result of a dubiously ethical experiment to create an animal bound to a pendant. The animal was born a regular, non-sentient orca that Liviu found orphaned in waters far deeper than should be. Using his deep-water magics, he brought the hapless baby back to his lair. From there, he imbued it with magic to allow it to basically be immortal at the expense of its' freedom and gave it sentience and telepathy. He taught it the ability to interpret prophecies from the bubbles that flowed through the caves around them. From the dreaded Spiral Keep. stopped. For years since he had left the Keep, Liviu had been preparing for revenge. royal family of dragon water mages, he was set to inherit a wealth of knowledge and magical artifacts. His younger siblings and elder relatives were pretentious snobs who only cared about their status in the Keep and their claim of magic items than helping others or the practical application of magic. Liviu had been uneasy about the whole situation since he was a young Imperial. As a result, he often hid away deep in the library or sanctum to study and practice real magic that could actually make a difference. As he matured he only became more recluse and skeptical of his family and the other scholars of the Keep. They reacted to his tentative inquiries about the lack of compassion with assurance that they do in fact help out, but grew wary of him and not inconspicuously spied on his practices. techs to enhance magical abilities. Worried the effects may give him away if applied to himself, he employed volunteers to test the magics. He studied the effects the magical upgrades had on them and their appearances and payed them with the magic and room and board. When this was discovered by the scholars and reported to his family, they finally had their excuse to confront him. In the resulting skirmish, he unleashed one of the spells he had invented, causing irreparable damage to his reputation as a reputable mage. While it was not done with malice, his practices could still be considered dubious at best amongst certain circles. his work, and later revenge. Then, when the Tidelord stopped sending his bubbles from his repose, Liviu had part of his work cut out for him. He didn't have anything outright against the Tidelord it was mostly about the lack of understanding for his magical practices and the aloof scholars. and Liviu and his orca Hazz turn towards their work. then liviu chortles and addresses hazz while he conjures a glowing orb and lights some magical candles and adjusts his headlight [the angler bob] btw this last paragraph is wip and outline for next segment
