LEMON is the religious leader of the Rifters, the founder and head of their Wounder faction and the one dragons turn to in matters concerning proper obeisance to the Plaguebringer. Even folks who don't care too much about the religious aspect of life in the Wasteland seem drawn to him: he's small and wiry of frame, but there's an intensity and confidence about him that draws folks in, invites them to sit a while in his company and listen to whatever he's got to say in his scratchy drawl.

It was Beryl who commanded that every inch of the Sea be scoured for riches to feed the emptiness inside her, but it was Lemon who opened the Rift and loosed the Plaguebringer's oldest creation on the world again. Lemon was the first to take sick from the Mother's Blessing, and the first to survive it. The rough, brittle nodules bristling along his hide are proof of it: each "gem," if plucked and ground to a fine powder, is rife with enough disease to lay a whole village low. Despite his flight-pride and dedication to the Plaguebringer, this fact is not one Lemon advertises much. It's a fact known only sidelong by his constituency, transmitted through rumour and hearsay long after he's out of earshot.

Though small and best comparable to an old, crinkly leaf in appearance, Lemon is a ferocious fighter and quick to leap to the defense of what he considers his: family, friends, the County itself. His weapons are his claws and teeth, and usually they're enough, sharp as they are; in a bind, he won't flinch from calling on the Mother's wrath itself, and it's not a pretty sight. They say there's still places in the Wasteland where no plants will grow and where flying things drop dead out of the sky once they pass through some invisible boundary over the brittle soil left in his wake.

IMPRESSIONS

Something old and wild behind eyes sunk deep in the sockets. His wings have a way of twitching and turning in your direction whenever you move. The red of his eyes and the red of his jewels are nearly indistinguishable: two eyes or two hundred? His voice is scratchy, uneven; dirt and bones and roots tumbling down a rocky slope, claws scrabbling at old dead earth to turn out something from nothing.

RELATIONSHIPS

BUMBLECLAW is Lemon's kindness, while Lemon is Bumbleclaw's cruelty. They are partners in every way that two dragons possibly can be.
HOOTYCREEK is the only (known) surviving child of Bumbleclaw and Lemon, born when the Rifters yet lived in the Sea. Lemon does not fully understand his daughter, but he loves her with unconditional ferocity.
HARLING still draws out Lemon's subtly competitive animosity, though he's had the sense not to show it since the day she came to town. It's clear the two of them have had dealings going back some years, though neither of them have seen fit to dish on the specifics.
