Biography
Fast Eddie
By the time of his coming-of-age, Fast Eddie had entered the scene as a niche sci-fi writer under the pen name Bluelight, and he was truly immersed in his subject matter. Though his work was fiction, his personal life was dedicated to the studious pursuit of finding dragon life outside the bounds of his own world. This passion was deep and fluttering, like the licks of blue-white flame in a roaring fire, and it had always been intertwined with his aptitude for magic (particularly sensing spiritual forces). If they were out there, he was determined to find them.
When he heard rumor of a dragon falling from the skies to a remote and mysterious clan in the Tangled Wood, he immediately felt a surge of excitement, setting off on a research expedition to investigate. When he arrived, he introduced himself at Dalmatian's request, the flaming eyes of the canine looming intensely in his direction from the other side of the wall. When word got around Morningstar clan that a Mr. Bluelight was at their gate, Lime Square Lyle nearly flung himself across the meeting hall.
The Bluelight himself? Author of Lizard Liftoff? Nocturnes and Nebulae? At our doorstep?!
Struggling against the urge to unearth his three signed copies of Scales and Starlight and T-shirts from the extraordinarily low-budget movie adaption of Mirrors on the Moon, Lyle vouched for Bluelight's credibility and urged the others to let him in. Seeing no reason to object, the dragons agreed. Things were getting busy around the clan with the journey to the Crags looming near, but the voice of Morningstar urged them with high importance to maintain open hearts for new friends and advisors coming their way.
The aberration was let inside, and was granted a guest room to settle in for the night. The next day, in passing discussion with Gum Gus, Edgar mentioned his schematics for a magical visibility ring which could be cast over a large diameter, increasing the caster's awareness of life forms within its bounds. This quickly caught the bogsneak's attention, and when Edgar was ushered into the lecture hall for a demo, it was apparent that he was not bluffing. This dragon really was generating exquisitely complex magical schematics with real practical use. Edgar was eager to share his ideas with an audience that took him seriously, joyous at the prospect of joining an academic research community.
Within a short time, he took on a part-time position as an assistant within the astronomy program, spending his days consulting with Lance on star-chart findings, and being shadowed shyly by dreamy-eyed fanboy Lyle. The remainder of his time was spent writing and developing specialized rituals to try to communicate with dragons from another planet...all of which end up being incidentally very practically useful for the clan.
While his daily life among Morningstar dragons was quite satisfying, Edgar found his chilled body longing for the embrace of summer sun, felt his cheeks longing for fresh-picked spices and berries he did not need to thaw. When nominated by his peers for admission into Morningstar clan, Edgar began to take steps toward permanent membership, but began also to reflect on the fact that there were parts of his heart which did not meld with the Morningstar way, no matter how he tried to make them disappear. Being an honest young man, he brought these concerns to Sour Stephan in an initiation counseling session.
"We are very grateful for your time here, Edgar. There is no shame in feeling the ache of an inevitable parting, but you must heed the summons if your heart is calling you elsewhere."
"Thank you, Stephan...but the world is vast, how do I answer a call coming loudly, but from nowhere in particular?"
"How indeed? Hmm...I do have a contact far from our icy shores, a relic of my sun-soaked past, who may be very glad indeed to hear that someone as special as yourself is seeking a new home. Give me some time, and I will advise you of his reply."
In two weeks' time, a letter arrived at the lair's doorstep. Edgar's name was scrawled in a thoughtful hand on muted green stationary edged with gentle gold filigree.
Edgar,
My dear friend writes to me of a lively young creative looking for a place of respite from the noise and cold of the world. You are not yet at our gates, but I have foreseen your arrival. From what I hear, your interests are unique and your passion is grand. If it is solace and good company in a land of peace that you seek, then our clan has an opening that you are very welcome to fill.
Sincerely,
Ghanima

Edgar's eyes lit up as he read (and then reread) the invitation. This new clan sounded marvelous, a community of delightful friends to be made, books to be read, and teas to be sipped. He packed his things rather quickly, but shuffled somewhat slowly toward the gates when it was finally time for his journey North to begin.
"Thank you all. It has been a pleasure. May Morningstar lead you to greatness"
"You are welcome any time to visit as an ally and friend. We look forward to hearing of your joy and success in this new chapter."
And with that, Energy Drink Edgar strode out from the doorstep of Morningstar clan, fur-lined coat dotted with UFO patches pulled tight up to his chin against the snowy wind. Whatever new splendid companions were ahead, he was enlivened with great anticipation to meet them...
