Biography
Pneuma
God of Spirit
"It's good to see you again, old friend. . . but you and I both know that these pleasant times will not last. . ." - Pneuma to Asteryax
Story:
An ancient god that once traversed the universe alongside Asteryax. The legends of Pneuma have been largely lost to time. Only the most dedicated scholars know that Pneuma once ruled over the world with Asteryax prior to the rise of the Trinity. Unlike the Trinity, who are worshipped by their devotees as separate deities, Pneuma and Asteryax were worshipped as a single entity.
Unlike Ouranos and Erebus, who were granted their powers by Asteryax, the origin of Pneuma and Asteryax's godhood is unknown. They are believed to have once been a bonded pair of mortals who absorbed enough power over time to ascend.
They once ruled over a different planet, but upon the destructive arrival of the beast Null, Pneuma and Asteryax were forced to flee alongside the souls of their children. After traveling the cosmos for some time, they arrived upon this world and decided it was a suitable home for them and their children. Upon Asteryax's insistence, the gods decided to treat the native inhabitants of this world as they did their children and became their guardians.
In order to effectively protect their followers, the two gods would occasionally incarnate into a mortal form. Asteryax believed that doing so would allow the gods to more easily understand the dragons they ruled over. The identities of the majority of Pneuma's incarnations have long been lost to time, but a few dragons have been confirmed as previous avatars of Pneuma. These dragons would typically live normal lives and would incarnate alongside Asteryax's avatar. However, they would defend dragonkind alongside Asteryax if called for.
As Pneuma grew older, they became more susceptible to corruption. The beast Null eventually located the two gods and took partial control of Pneuma. Asteryax, much to their distress, was forced to slay Pneuma to prevent the world from being destroyed. However, Asteryax used their power to preserve a remnant of Pneuma's soul, so the God of Spirit would continue to incarnate into mortal form alongside Asteryax. Asteryax was unable to fully cleanse Pneuma of Null's corruption, so Pneuma's incarnations following this incident would frequently show hostility towards Asteryax, granting them the moniker of Nemesis of Asteryax. On the other hand, Pneuma always knew deep down that they were still Asteryax's true partner and refused to ever truly destroy Asteryax.
Personality:
Pneuma was considered by many to be a cold god. However, they cared deeply about those that they considered to be family, such as Asteryax and their children. Due to Asteryax's guidance, they gradually began to also care for the native inhabitants of this world.
