Malia

One of the oldest and earliest members of Owlet Clan, Malia has served as the Clan’s midwife and child care provider. She’s assisted in the delivery of countless nests, and has tended to said nests throughout their gestation, seeing to it that every one of them produces a brood of happy, healthy little dragonlings (it also helps to be a Snapper who never sleeps). Malia is keen on teaching her other Snapper daughters this trade, though they’ve joined her nursery vigil with varying degrees of success.

While she may come across as coarse and disagreeable to some, Malia retains some of the easy and nurturing nature that characterizes Owlet Clan. She is not so quick to anger, and has patience to spare for those who don’t understand what it is she’s trying to accomplish (“You have to be, when you’re bringing new lives into the world.”). She understands the affect one’s actions can have on others very well, an intuition of sorts that’s come with her exposure to the impressionable minds of baby dragons.

Though she claims that she is not interested in taking a “forever mate” of any sort, she’s had the aid of Rocky in raising their daughters together, and even in taking care of clutches that weren’t either of theirs. She admires his strong, steady nature, and has kept him as a close ally.

She has been a fierce friend of Marni’s since the very beginning, being one of the first wayward hatchlings to call the tundra her Clan Leader. She has often served as an advisor for Marni in times where Nathair’s wisdom has fallen short, and though they do not always see eye to eye, they try their best to maintain the gentle energy they so dearly hold onto.
