Once, there was a simple rocking chair. An old tundra sat on that chair, reading his books slowly. Though out the years, every night he would read a book on this chair. He would smiled and laugh in this chair. He would cry and snarl in this chair. And as he grew older and older, he sat in the chair more. And on his death's bed, he whispered something to it.
He loved it, like one would love a great friend or spouse. And he seized, and died. His body was removed by his friends, with no thought anything of the chair. Dragons aren't like humans, at least tundras aren't, in that they keep the dens of the dead the same for many years. The smell of the person must waft away first. And so the chair sat. But to the chair was not still. It was starting to think, and became ensouled. It had survived for a 100 years, and it had heard the tundra's declaration of love. It wanted to be like him. And it wanted this so badly that it was true. The worn plush of the back contorted into a face and the feet became four legs Its kindly face shimmered softly in the wolfish cruel light of the moon, and the eyes are opals, staring blindly. Its mind was still new, but it had witness for watching the world go by. It picked a name, one that was like its beloved, Tsukuyomi. Spindling, prescinding
rewinding again,
and again
I knew not of it then,
but as I grasped helplessly onto
your fur, I realized
I was letting go.
Perhaps it was like
the wind,
the crackling fire,
the whisper of your voice,
they came for your husk
I bear not the chance to
say goodbye
and mean it,
