Biography

Thundia
Once, long before the time of Screechfang and Skytail and the Clan of the Striking Bolt, a wave of egg rot swept through the Tempest Spire. Nobody could find the cause, the reason. Parents wailed and mourned, feeling useless at their inability to do anything about the situation. All around the Tempest Spire, Lightning eggs that once glowed with hopes for the future fizzled out like burnt bulbs.

Then, there was a revelation. The eggs that were affected all suffered from the same problem. They had not been acclimated to the static electricity in the air. They were being overloaded, and fried out. Just like Fire and Ice eggs have to be kept at a certain, stable temperature, Lightning eggs have to have a constant minor flow of electricity so the static in the air doesn’t negatively affect them.

Once this was realized, nesting parents were able to take steps to acclimate their eggs, and the eggs stopped overloading and burning out. The plague was over. Out of fear of this epidemic ever striking again, a new school opened in the Tempest Spire, to teach interested Lightning dragons in how to acclimate these eggs slowly but surely and prevent their burnout.

This is where Thundia comes from. From a young age, Thundia has been fascinated by the story of this epidemic and all the eggs lost, and became a student of this school as soon as she was old enough to enroll. She has devoted her entire life to “egg charging”, the act of providing a stable but small current of electricity to Lightning eggs to acclimate them to the staticky air of the Shifting Expanse.

Charging eggs can be a lonely job, even with the company of her mate, Kindling. Although Thundia gets to frequently speak to other nursery workers and the expecting parents, more often than not she is left alone with the eggs as they charge. She often finds herself talking to them, even, chatting nonstop about anything that comes to mind and narrating her every action to them. Thundia thinks the eggs appreciate it, and when the eggs hatch, the hatchlings always get this nagging feeling in the backs of their minds, like Thundia is an old friend from another life.

Thundia is very bubbly and kind, and very enthusiastic about her work, but above all she is patient. Thundia understands that parenting is hard, especially for first-timers, and she is more than willing to listen to the new parents’ concerns and gently explain the procedure of what she is doing and how it protects the eggs. She cares deeply for each and every egg, of course, but nothing is more important to her than fostering dragon-to-dragon relationships.

Exalting Thundia to the service of the Stormcatcher will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
