How curious, the realm of the sleepers; delightful and detestable in equal measure. The first time he walked in a dream not his own, Nirael was as fascinated as he was fearful. It had been an accident. All the rest had been purposeful. He learned quickly. He quelled the hatchlings' nightmares and cloaked himself in the skins of lost lovers to comfort the elders. He shared in the rush of battle as warriors felled beasts great and grand. Held the sadness of distant friendships. Breathed through lungs choked with illness and feasted on the bounty of kings. But the realm of dreams could not be his forever. Even the undead must rise. Must move, lest their limbs shrivel and fade. How did folk dream beyond the boughs of his clan's territory? He wanted to know...
