Terra blinked at her mom, who was closing the fairy tale book."Mom, can you stay?" her dragonet called out in the dark. Sunset blinked, confused as the child continued. "I don't like the whispers. They come when you leave." "Who?" Sunset asked. "Them. They're watching. They'll be here soon." Sunset sighed, and closed the door. Overreactive imagination. Right? "Bye, mom." her dragonet called. Sunset blinked, creeped out. "But I'll be here in the morning."
"I know. But this time it's goodbye."
In the morning, Terra was gone. Gone without a trace, like Sunset's husband, Mirage, a month ago. They all disappeared like this. Sighing, Sunset locked the door. Then she walked across the hallway to the room of her youngest hatchling.
