She’d loved a beast and hadn’t regretted it, they hadn’t known him, not truly, not what he was like to their hatchlings. He’d been the sweetest mate and father she could have hoped for and she wished he could have stayed longer. In some ways she was relieved, for he wasn’t without his enemies and her hatchlings would not be the first to fall in some twisted attempt to wipe out a ‘demon’s’ blood. That did not save them though, years after she thought they’d be safe... They were not. All of them gone, down to the last egg. She knew they were only the latest and she wished she’d been stronger to protect them for several of their older half-siblings lived, though that was certainly not without attempts.

Still nothing could be done about it now other than to keep on moving and live without regrets but never could she look upon those who would lay the sins of the parents on the babe without spitting in their face in disgust. Her charge had had to wait long enough and she would keep them no longer, but if they were of that sort she was unsure she could ever truly be their Guardian. She keeps her eye though, for those that others would throw away or harm for sins not theirs and this time she will protect. This briar’s thorns were ready and waiting.
