Notes
Has always had the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. While this has occasionally served her well, there are less wandering spirits than one would think in the deep desert, and so her encounters are relatively sporadic. The connectedness with lost souls has disenfranchised her to any deeper meaning in life. |

History
"Poison. Figures." Sahara twitched her head fins once again, wishing her visitor would take the hint. She continued eating her prey; this lizard was hard caught in the heat of the day, and she wouldn't let a young spirit like this distract her from her prize. As she chewed, she shot her most scathing look at the spirit. It was an Imperial, all broad shoulders and gilded opalescent sheen. Though his form was shimmering and slightly transparent, there was no denying he was formidable in life. "That evil wyrm stole my crown from me. Had the nerve to take me out to the desert and poison me. I should have known." The imperial continued his soliloquy. It had been several days since the last spirit Sahara had encountered. The silence, while overwhelming in the shifting expanses of a lonely desert, was peaceful. Now of course she'd managed to find a very young spirit. These tended to be the most annoying - the memory of their death still fresh. As soon as they realized there was another soul out here to talk to, they tended to cling to her, buzzing around like annoying flies. Her lunch finished, Sahara stood up and stretched, her fans sparkling in the mid-day sun. The movement made the imperial pause. Finally, some silence. She didn't speak the words aloud, deciding instead to try a kinder route. "Thank you for sharing this meal with me. I'll be on my way." She even attempted to sound chipper as she spoke. Unfortunately, after only a few steps, she noticed the imperial was following her. "I'll gladly travel with you. You can help me find that arrogant -" a sharp look from Sahara cut the imperial off. Kindness hadn't worked. Typical. "I have no interest in company. I have travelled this desert in solitude for many seasons, and intend to continue. Your petty vengeance will get you nowhere. You're dead. Learn to accept it and maybe you'll move on from this plane. If not, hopefully centuries rotting in purgatory will teach you more about social cues." She spat the last sentence and continued walking, not even bothering to look back and see how the words affected her ghostly visitor. It's no wonder you were poisoned. |
