While most cultures see wisteria as a symbol of romance, others believe wisteria symbolizes good luck, success, and longevity. <

Wisteria never really had any friends. She was a loner by nature, it seemed, though she did try. Really! The other hatchlings thought she was weird because she always…. knew things. Things about them that they didn’t tell her, or anyone else for that matter. But Wisteria didn’t do it on purpose! She would just…. know. But this odd knowledge scared off the others. And then they would tell their parents. So, eventually everyone in the kingdom was uneasy around her. Mistrustful.
When she was very young, her neighborhood had a new arrival. He was a strange and oddly charismatic Imperial, who never revealed his name. She had a gut feeling that this strange dragon was not to be trusted, but she had trained herself to not say these feelings out loud anymore, but even if she had, she knew no one would have listened. He claimed to be a traveler, merely stopping by during his longer journey. This stranger made fast friends with just about everyone in the kingdom, almost overnight, it seemed. Wisteria was the only one who appeared to notice anything off with him. He would smile just a bit too long, and then abruptly stop as soon as the other had looked away. He glared when no one was looking. He stalked, rather than walked. He spoke slowly and strangely. But she dismissed this, sure that her odd sense was merely trying to foil her relationships further.
Wisteria had a sleeping issue, so she liked to wander around the kingdom at night. It was a very nice part of her day, when no other dragons were around to make her uncomfortable. But this night was different. She was not alone. As she rounded a corner, she saw a long tail disappear through another passage. Against her better judgment, she followed, curious to see who was about this late. Naturally, it was the strange visitor. She kept out of sight, continuing to follow, even more curious now. She watched him slip into the sleeping courters of the castle. She heard a loud crash, a cut off shriek, and the stranger slipped out again, moving quickly off down the hallway and soon vanishing into the vast labyrinth of hallways.
Of course, Wisteria went into the chamber, and she saw a scene that would haunt her and her dreams for the rest of her life. The beloved and kind leader of the clan was sprawled out on the floor, gasping for air. Her mind blocked most of what followed, but she recalls bits and pieces.
she screamed and rushed to the fallen's side
the clatter of the nearby neighbors and families rushing in to investigate
the others screaming in horror
harsh claws dragging her away
She was never allowed to return to her home kingdom again. Well, she supposes it was never her home at all.
This... indecent... brought her a fame she never wanted. New dragons were constantly stopping at this smaller kingdom to see her, the young one who should have been executed for murdering her past leader, but was instead taken in by this new kingdom, the leader of whom insists that they are not at all concerned for their life over this young, shy dragon.
Now, she lives in exile, distant even though she has found a new kingdom to call home.
She ended up hearing from a passing dragon that the stranger had woken up with the clatter, and had come running in with the rest of the dragons. He had left the next day, seeming rather disturbed by the incident. Of course, Wisteria knows this was all a mere act on the part of the stranger. She now wonders if he was using some kind of sorcery to win everyone over the way he did...
She stays separate from most others, not attending school or any social gathering.
A seer from this new clan told her that her sense was a gift, and offered to train her on it further, but Wisteria refused. She wanted nothing from the gift that ruined her life, and got her framed for a crime she never committed. Still....she may end up changing her mind over the thought of preventing anything like this from happening again.....
