ALEXANDRITE

"Why did the cockatrice cross the road?"

BACKSTORY

When Alexandrite hatched, he wan't in a nest. Or a lair. Or even a family. His egg was lodged in a rotting log beside a river in Driftwood Drag, parents nowhere to be seen. Confused and timid, he inched his way around the delta, looking for food and shelter. The other dragons in the area definitely took notice, and fed him scraps of this and that, yet not one took him in as their own.

He was merely tolerated by everyone, which instilled in him a feeling of loneliness. He then attempted to develop a sense of humor, practicing jokes and one-liners at his own reflection in the water. The young dragon became adept rather quickly, gaining the company and affection of everyone around him. However, there came a time where he only cared about the company and affection from a single special someone, but that is a tale for another time.

Sapphire

WIFE - Their love only grows stronger with age, as their chemistry knows no flaws. She genuinely loves his corny nature, surprisingly enough!

Amethyst

DAUGHTER - A rebellious peace activist. What used to be an unbreakable bond is now a series of sighs and conflicts.

Moonstone

SON - Abnormally timid as a child, this overly furry dragon seems to absolutely adore his father's stellar puns.

Angelite

SON - Once a quiet warrior, he has long since fled his home to nobly support the Shadowbinder.

Glade

BROTHER - A hopeless drunk who believes he's destined to lead an army, he moved in after losing all his possessions to gambling.

DESCRIPTION

Just a giant goofball. He cracks jokes and puns at every possible moment, hoping to get an honest laugh out of someone, or even an exasperated groan. And yet, it stings his heart whenever his daughter rolls her eyes and scoffs at him. As big and portly as he is, this old dragon isn't very strong. His soft pink scales are very sensitive; handle with care! He enjoys jokingly telling others that he's a master of magic, despite the fact that he's utterly terrible at it, which Sapphire finds endearing.

FAMILIAR

While plundering around in the woods, Alexandrite found a quaint little chest. Upon closer inspection, however, the chest began to attack him! Well, attempted to, at least. It mostly just snarled and lunged a bit. Alex only chuckled and lured the mimic over to the lair. He thinks he can tame it, and has made it his goal to make the mimic laugh. It's going relatively well so far; just last week he thought he saw a faint smile cross the creature's face.
