Auberje
Guardian of dreams
Those who approach Ember Island, located off the coast of the Wind territory, may have heard of its reputation for being a hub of intellectual and artistic exchange. If you come in peace, you will be met with warm welcome. However, as you draw near the island, you may observe a strong Guardian of deep purple and shining yellow soaring overhead, circling above the rocky cliff side. Auberje, Chieftain of Ember clan, watches over her family from the sky. Periodically, she stops atop a high cliff to rest and scan the skies. Although Ember Clan lives in peace, perils do exist for this island village. And it is the Charge of the Ember Clan's Chieftain to protect her tribe.
As visitors draw near, Auberje keeps her distance and does not approach. Rather, she keeps watch from a distance. Guests are greeted by the more social senior clan members - usually Kerasos, Kamala, or Tangier. Those who come in peace are welcome to mingle among the clan - to buy and sell wares of all kinds, to attend the open air lectures held by its scholars, or to join in the evening revelry of poetry and song around the campfires. However, should any visitor attempt to cause harm, Auberje will swoop down on the unwise troublemaker, leading the clan warriors in battle. On occasion, for a critical threat, one may even see a magical Paladin appear.
Many guests are repeat visitors and, in time, turn into friends of Ember Clan. While the Chieftain is reserved, she does warm up to those who are kind to her chosen family. Once you earn the honour of being called her friend, you have her unwavering loyalty.

Origins:
It's hard to believe, when you see my zephyr eyes, that I was born to the Nature flight, in the Viridian Labyrinth - a foundling egg, lost in the wild. How my egg arrived there is not known, but I was taken in with kindness. Still in my heart, I held on to the dream of living in my homeland, The Windswept Plateau. My foster family loved me while I was with them, knowing that when I came of age I would have to travel far to find my destiny in the Windsinger's land.
When I first arrived in the Windswept Plateau, I knew I had found my home. Finally, my dream was fulfilled. For a time, I lived a peaceful solitary life in the remote wild areas of Wing flight, hunting and foraging off the land. Each day, I flew in whichever direction the wind took me. I have always felt a sense of serenity in solitude, and who knows how long I would have lived that way, if I had not met Kerasos.
One day, as I was flying and communing with the wind, I heard cries of distress below me. I saw a magenta Tundra fighting off a group of bandits. Immediately, I flew down to aid him, and we fought off the attackers together. Kerasos was on his way to visit some friends, and I had no particular destination, so I decided to travel with him a while, so that we could both travel more safely.
I thought I would miss the calm serenity of my solitary communion with the wind. And, yet, I was charmed by his various stories of his adventures in Wind Flight. He rarely stopped talking during the whole journey, but his enthusiasm and excitement for life made this an endearing trait. When we rejoined dragon society, my new friend seemed to intuit my needs, and was able to gently guide the other dragons to give me space until I was ready to join in their games and feasting.
I began to realize that I did desire companionship of my fellow dragons. Kerasos revealed to me that he had been charged with becoming a great warrior to carry on his birth clan's name. Yet in his heard he dreamed of creating song and poetry. I desired for him to live his dream, just as I was able to live my dream of being in the Windswept Plateau. I urged him to follow his heart. And together, we decided to create a new clan, dedicated to following the calling of one's heart.
At first, it was just the two of us. We spent our days following brought us joy. For me, this was living off nature. For Kerasos, it was creating music. Slowly others began to join us, wanting to live like us, following their passion. They became a part of our chosen family. Clan Ember has grown into a home for dragons seeking to fulfil their dreams.
Relationships
Auberje has a personal relationship with each member of her clan. She believes strongly in the importance of camaraderie to the health of the clan.
Her best friend and confidante is Kerasos.
Her lover is Kineshte. The fierce Wildclaw balances out the Captain's more calm steady nature.
Auberje still stays in touch with
Soleil, the foster sister she grew up with.
