The esteemed “Gentleman of the Seas,” otherwise known as Captain Nazar, is a TideFlow dragon-blooded being who grew up among peaceful tidepools, oddity littered shores, and gentle seas. Being raised in the midst of a very slothful wing of his own kind, “Nazar” was not much understood for his explorative and curious nature by his two elders and family, and as a result did not have many friends—he only had one, actually. One good friend from the multi-blooded markets beyond who vowed to always stick with him. From an early age, Nazar was very interested in the curiosities that were the history and science of magic—especially realmshifting. The art of realmshifting, or, realmhoppers, were beings who claimed to be able to harness the power of old runic gemstones with a dash of science to quite literally teleport themselves through the in-between void and to new realms [aka worlds/universes] beyond. He found it utterly fascinating and full of potential. Yet nobody else he knew did, other than traveling merchants. After enough years of being neglected and threatened to be “replaced” by his uncaring parents, Nazar finally left. He fled his home under moon-high and vowed to create his own future, away from sectionalized civilizations full of blind and lazy followers. One of happiness with beings who understood him. Though as an unexperienced youngling, things got off to a rocky start. You’d think someone with gills wouldn’t manage to nearly drown himself, right? Well, Nazar woke up washed out to sea on a proffessional seafaring vessel filled with luckily caring beings who were extremely concerned after finding a half-dead child in the middle of the ocean. The SunDrop, the ship was called. The SunDrop family just happened to specialize in commericial wooden vessel building. They immediately offered their resources and medical supplies, and it wasn’t much later that Nazar realized his very worried best friend, Sioni, had indignantly trekked across the realms to hunt him down. That was the turning point in Nazar’s life. He wasn’t going back, especially not after his first realmshift. He even found other beings who were equally curious about the science. More than that though, as it turned out, some of new beings Costello met practiced a tradition of maintaining a “first,” “middle,” and “last” name. Nazar decided to call himself “Costello (Sonorous) Nazar” from here on out. It seemed fitting for a being of so many dreams and discoveries to have an equally musical title. A name he was proud to be called. Eventually, after some healing and a little encouragement, The SunDrop agreed to partner with Costello in building his very own ship from the ground up. Soon after, Costello turned to sailing the great blue expanses with his newly appointed co-captain, Sioni; in search of his purpose in the life he wanted. And thus began the legacy of Captain Nazar. In current times, Captain Nazar has been sailing across the realms for 26 realm-years with his slowly collected, loyal crew of 12—who he proudly calls his family. Costello also happens to be the leading captain and founder of a pirate movement in which he calls “The High Seas Alliance,” a fleet of fellow pirates who believe in safety, community, and love while out from under the thumb of any ruling government. Not only that, but to make this concept work, Captain Nazar has cleverly engineered a new branch of realmshifting—powered by his pirate crew’s work of looting abanadoned or sunken vessels, in which the treasure collected will be carefully studied and put to use finding more “ghost ships” and reaching out to allies in need of resources. As Costello says, “All knowledge is treasure, and all treasure is knowledge of our past.” |
