Ceruzyl has always been a caretaker. From a young age, he was the hatchling who kept his friends out of trouble, the one who made sure everything went according to plan. He looked forward to discovering his charge as any Guardian does, but when he sensed the Cloudscrape Crags tugging at his heart, he struggled to feel anything other than apprehension.

A sense of purpose filled him the moment he spotted a particular break in the mountains, nearly invisible in clear weather and undoubtedly impossible to see in the midst of a snowstorm. Ceruzyl took up his post at the base of the Firndrift Pass, destined to guard it for all his life. It brought him some comfort to know that his job would ensure the safety of any poor dragon who got lost in the maze of rock and ice, that his isolation guaranteed the survival of others.

But after many months, Ceruzyl's anxiety grew. Frozen to the bone, body temperature barely within what even an Ice dragon could tolerate, he feared that he wouldn’t be able to see his duty through for long. Worse than even that, however, was the restless resentment burrowing its way into his heart.

So Ceruzyl set off on another Search—this time for a home.

He found a small, unremarkable iceberg near the edge of the Frigid Floes—and a snarling Mirror who had taken refuge inside its hollowed cave. An ordinary dragon would have left her alone, seeking out a new hunk of ice to call his own.

The entire clan is rather thankful that Ceruzyl is anything but ordinary.
