    Ryu's background is somewhat mysterious, but those who have managed to glean information from him about his past know that much of it isn't pretty. Legend has it he once fought cloaked in darkness - some even going so far as to claim he served in the Shadowbinder's exalted ranks, having renounced ties to whatever clan he was born to, and was known as a terror of the night - but he caught sight of the Lightweaver one day and his eyes filled with light and he was forever changed.

    Whatever truth lies in the tale, Ryu did leave the warrior's path behind him after he sustained severe wounds. Seun, a fellow wanderer, nursed him back to health and they fell in love and started a clan of their own - dubbing it the Twilight Clan since Ryu and Seun both believe in Light and Darkness having a delicate harmony, and Twilight is the middle ground between. Even their home, the Twilit Lair, is located on a rocky outcropping at the very edge of the Sunbeam Ruins that overlooks the Tangled Wood.

    Ryu still has a soft spot for abandoned dragons. His clan grew rapidly as a result of his way of taking unfortunate dragons under his wing. He loves the young dragons he has taken in as much as his own hatchlings, and none doubt he would return to his old ways to defend any one of his clan to the death if he had to.

    He is good friends with Aeron, who joined the clan not long after it was formed, and considers him a brother in all but blood. He can also often be found chatting with Mobius about lore and philosophy, and sometimes helps him keep the young dragons in line as they learn from the historian. He also still sometimes goes out with the lead scout, Midir, who was also the first young dragon to join the clan. Midir's quick wit has always amused Ryu, and he remains one of his most trusted friends.
