Blackhammer

We call her 'Ham' for short.

The tiny snapper wasn't quite sure how she had managed to get this far from her nest. Surely her parents would be worried, and her sister would want to hear her stories of what was outside of the clan's dens. But she couldn't find the path back to her home. The scenery had stopped being breezy and green a while ago, and now wherever she looked, there were rotting plants, stagnant pools of water, and strange, aggressive insects. As she noted this, a small swarm of funny green beetles took off from what she had mistaken for a green bush and started running into her, flying at her, even biting her! The small hatchling turned tail and ran, wailing for her mother and father. Eventually, the beetles stopped chasing her, and she slowed to a stop, not like she had much stopping to do, as she was fairly slow. When she looked around, she realized with much dread that she was now even more lost than she was before. So she did the only thing that she could do at a time like this: sit down and cry.
She cried for what felt like an hour, but was really only a couple minutes, before she heard something approaching her. Panicking the hatchling backed into the remains of a dead tree stump and tried to make herself look as small as possible. Tears still ran down her face, blurring her vision, and every so often she would give a tiny sob. She tried to make herself even smaller against the stump as the creature making the noises appeared.
It was huge compared to the little Snapper, and it had a single horn growing out of it's face, which looked to be white, though the underside was a golden brown color. It had large feathers coming off of its head, and black fur growing on it's elbows, tail, and down it's neck, contrasting with the dappled, golden-brown skin. The large beast moved its head closer to examine the hatchling. The tiny dragon let out a sob of fear, and her tears started anew.
The monster immediately drew back, shifting its wings in uncertainty, and the snapper realized that what she was looking at wasn't a monster, it was just a Pearlcatcher wearing a birdskull headdress. Still a problem, but one that was far less likely to hurt her. This realization didn't stop the baby dragon's tears, though.
The Pearlcatcher sat down next to the Snapper, picked her up and held her close, trying to stop the little one's tears. She had no idea what she was doing, but she had watched the mothers in her clan do the same thing with their hatchlings, and remembered her own mother holding her and singing a lullaby the time she had almost lost her pearl... Speaking of her pearl, where was it? No matter, she would search later. Right now, a hatchling needed some comfort. Fatalii tried to remember the tune of the lullaby her mother always used to sing her. It took a couple minutes of searching her memories, but she eventually remembered it. The Pearlcatcher started humming the tune, still trying to remember the words and stroking the little hatchling's head.
The Snapper's sobs grew less frequent, and the Wind dragon stared up at Fatalii. The Pearlcatcher was smiling, lost in memories long past. But eventually, the song had to end, and when it did, Fatalii looked down at the Wind hatchling.
"You have come long way, little one." She teased, "I believe your mother will not be too happy with you." The little Snapper looked embarrassed. "Now come, I take you to your home. Lead you out of Contagion." Fatalii set the Snapper down and stood up, looking around for her pearl. She spotted it by a bush a couple meters away, where it had rolled after Fatalii had dropped it when she spotted the little Snapper that would soon become known as Blackhammer. The Nature dragon walked over to her pearl and picked it up, looking back at the Snapper that was waddling after her.
When this was written, Ham was 1.4 meters long, had a 0.59 wingspan, and weighed 238.34 KG
