VA I S R A V A N A Progenitor, Clan Leader, the Absolute In the beginning there was only Branislava: A Guardian born from a pustule cleaved from the Plaguebringer. She found her Charge in a stretch of land scarred by the caustic streams that leak from the Wyrmwound. For a time she tended to this land herself, digging amongst the massive skeletons and crumbling ruins that dotted the wasteland to make a home for herself. And so, with the help of the Five, a plot of nothing became the Caustic Keep. The Keep attracted many dragons of many different kinds and intents. As the Keep grew so did its matriarch, she amassed more and more power. More skill, more strength, more speed, more respect. More. More. More. She began to become something else in the eyes of those who only knew of her: An idea, a feeling. Something not tied to mortality. It was in these views that she found her attachment to the Keep to be a disadvantage. The pull of her Charge was too much, it prevented her from leaving her palace as she wished. She was Plague, war was in her blood and being unable to dominate the battlefield was unacceptable. So she shed her tough hide and powerful body for feathered wings and sharp claws. With the shedding of her scaled form she rescinded her claim to the name Branislava. With Branislava gone Vaisravana came, it was a new era for the Keep when their Queen could descend onto the battlefield. The Plague runs strongly in her veins, undiluted and fierce. A promise of fury, a promise of strength, a promise to all her enemies: There will be no mercy in war. To become her enemy is to make a vow: you will not survive. But she is only vicious as a necessity, those who would dare threaten her clan do not make the error again. Those who consider the Caustic Keep their home do not see this side of their Queen, she is warm and protective (no doubt a trait she has retained from her time as a Guardian) with a quiet understand for all the Keep's inhabitants. There are currently three direct heirs to the Caustic Keep, though any dragon with the blood of Vaisravana can stake a claim it is much more likely for the Keep's residents to allow a child of Vaisravana as their ruler. A King or Queen's word is law, however the Keep is a Plague clan. If a new monarch is not seen to be fit for the role they will be tested, and tests in the Caustic Keep often end in blood. |
