Dresden carved out his lair when it was barely more than a hole in the ice. Before finding the lair that he currently calls home, he wandered around the ice field with Airtongue, searching for wealth and strength. His strong leadership and need to expand his lair from just him and Airtongue, his lifelong friend, has lead him to recruit followers, friends and family from all over into his lair.

He is also very protective of his leadership role and works hard to maintain his power, although he does let other dragons handle certain aspects of running the lair. Although he tries to rule as fairly and justly as possible, dragons who are too ambitious have been known to be convinced to serve the Icewarden.

He wants to grow and expand his lair, gather more dragons, and hoard more treasure.He formerly was a triple basic, but worked hard with Airtongue and a few other dragons to save enough in his personal hoard to purchase gene scrolls, and he now takes great pride in his genes. He sees dragons with basic genes as lesser and plain, which is why there are only a few dragons with basic genes in his lair, although his views have softened since obtaining gene scrolls for himself.

Aside from his outlook on basic-gened-dragons, he is fair to dragons of all flights and treats each breed equally, valuing skills and strength most of all. He is generally stoic and can be menacing to smaller and younger dragons, but those who spend time around him know they have nothing to worry about unless they cross him. He also accepts dragons no matter their past, as long as they dedicate their skills, time and loyalty to his lair. He often says that as long as a dragon can pull their weight and don't threaten or harm any of his clanmates, they are welcome and can do what they wish if they get spare time.
