There is something fascinating about diseases, and Wasteland always understood that. Born somewhere near the Wyrmwound, Wasteland crawled his lonesome way through the carnage of pestilence so prevalent in Plague lands.

Perhaps this traumatized him. Perhaps it was the start of his ruthless infatuation with "medicine." Likely it was both, helping shape the merciless dragon Wasteland is today.

Despite his complete lack of morality in regards to his work and his patients, he gets the job done, so Beholder keeps him around. The rest of the rogues are quite skittish around him, especially Romeo, who is utterly terrified.

Don't expect to be given any anesthetic. Strapping dragons down works just fine.
