Biography

The story begins in the dark. A darkness so thick it made you wonder, are my eyes open or closed? Am I truly seeing nothing but black all around me? A hint of pain crossed her legs and spread to her wings, but it was over as soon as it began. Was she blind? She couldn't tell. One thing she did know for certain was that she was alone.

She stumbled her way through the obsidian air. It felt like an eternity was spent trying to find an exit or glimmer of light, any sign of hope for her was quickly diminishing with every passing second. But then luck made the decision that it was on her side for now. A small window of brightness, something that wasn't the dark. The closer she got, the bigger it was. Quickening her pace, Venator finally made it. She was no longer engulfed in the black, finally free at last.

After getting as far away from the darkness as she could, she now felt comfortable enough to stop for a breather. Venator took in the scenery around her, taking deep breaths of fresh air as she did so. Beautiful green trees surrounded her, the sky the bluest thing she had ever seen, mountains ranging as far as the eye could see. Everything was absolutely beautiful but she felt uncomfortable in the light. She quickly realized how much safer she felt in the darkness. Her breathing quickened.

Venator spent most of her early years hiding in the shadows of everything. She learned how to do most things on her own, such as basic survival. The only thing she lacked was the ability to communicate with others. She avoided contact with other dragons for many years, in fear they would judge her for not being able to speak. Until one day when she was out hunting for food and ran into two dragons.

It wasn't intentional, she didn't see them in her path. During a chase for a rabbit going full-speed, Venator ran directly into an obsidian mirror. Assuming he would be aggravated with her, she backed away quickly, trying to express how sorry she was for the run in without using words. To much of her surprise, he laughed off the situation with a huge smile. He tried asking her questions, are you okay, whats your name, where are you from, but she could not answer. Mortem, after a few moments of awkward silence, asked can you speak? Venator shook her head no, a signal she had learned after having this conversation with few other dragons. He simply smiled.

It didn't take long for Venator to grow attached to Mortem and Samigina. She quickly became a follower of them and wanted to help aid in their quest as best she could. Though lacking much to offer, her dedication alone was more than enough for them. Many days and nights were spent gathering materials from the darkest parts the world has to offer, a task of which she was perfect for. Only a few years later, Elkmire came into existence.

She is proud, polite, affectionate and perhaps a little too confused. Many of her days are now spent gathering any extra materials to have on hand, or ones needed to repair parts in the village when need be. If she isn't searching for items, she is out hunting for food to share with everyone. She enjoys helping aid the event organizer, Stheno, for the yearly feast. Venator never learned how to speak, despite being offered. She has no desire to learn. Secretly, the challenge to communicate her thoughts to others is something she enjoys doing.
