wandering through the hewn city, a traveling family of snappers once found the remnants of a small light clan ravaged by blight, with a lone two-egg nest seemingly the only surviving members. the snapper caravan's healers determined that the rest of the light clan must have been decimated by a rapidly-escalating virus or illness of some sort, and that something this fast-acting and deadly could only have spawned from the shade itself.
this snapper caravan took the two survivors-- circa and exodus-- under their literal and metaphorical wings, training both of them in foraging, navigating, and combat (particularly magic and healing). many years later, after traveling nearly every inch of sornieth, the fae siblings returned to the land of their birth to start a clan of their own. the lamplighters' mission is two-pronged: 1) research the source of this "shade-sickness" (as exodus calls it), its symptoms and pathology, and how to overcome it; and 2) to destroy everything it could possibly have touched to prevent it from spreading any further.
between circa and exodus, circa is the natural-born leader (read: the one with less social anxiety) and therefore is the "face" of the clan. she's also more of a "boots on the ground" type than her sibling and prefers to spend her time out in the field getting stuff done rather than holing herself up in the library. unfortunately circa's vibes are absolutely rancid and thus many of her closest compatriots are always going behind her back to do damage control with other dragons she may have accidentally offended.
in short, circa's whole personality is Revenge. are you in for Revenge? hop in circa’s clown car and you, too, can go on exciting wild goose chases between the hewn city and cairnstone rest, hunting down even the vaguest hints of anything that may have been corrupted by the shade... whether it be object, beast or fellow dragon
