Derloth's bark is worse than his bite. If anything he's too nice. He's aging and slowly going blind from his many battles. He can barely see out of his right eyes as it is.

While he may be kind and understanding he is also someone who shouldn't be trifled with. Should the need ever arise, he will fight to the death to defend his Clan.

He knows his son Beetle will kill him, or he will need to kill his son, the fight is inevitable, but he keeps postponing it, avoiding being alone with his son for any extended period of time.

If he must, he will deal the killing blow to Beetle to protect the Clan, though he truly hopes and prays it never comes to that.
