Biography
Smaug was the first dragon to arrive in the lair, and therefore its official progenitor. Whether this means he actually built it or not remains unconfirmed - it's entirely possible he just chased out the dwarf deer that had been living within it already, before settling down and going to sleep.
He's certainly a hoarder, at any rate - whether it's treasure, materials, foodstuffs or random trinkets, Smaug keeps ample space in his lair for all of it, and takes pride in filling it with whatever he can accrue. His proudest possessions are those that make up the steampunk skin he wears, in all its golden, vaguely-Victorian glory. However, any comparisons to that odd Spiral dragon at the Trading Post usually receive a snap of enchanted flame as a sharp retort.
More and more displaced dragons have ended up settling down in Smaug's little patch of Arcane territory as of late - though his reception to them remains curmudgeonly as ever, bordering on hostile, they all quietly seem to get to stay regardless. Being the respected leader of a growing clan's an all-too-welcome boost to his ego, for one thing, and though he'll never admit it, he's grown surprisingly fond of the little family growing around him.
So, alongside Saphira, he serves as the clan's leader. Though he's still not the friendliest dragon, and perhaps uses "look really big and roar at it" as the solution to a problem a bit too readily, he's a Guardian through and through, and would defend the clan and the lair to the end.
He's also one of the main Coliseum trio, alongside Saphira and Packrat. He's somewhat of a glass cannon - though he's not one for taking hits, he packs the punch of a dragon many levels higher. Or, well, the slash.
