Biography

Bamboo Shoot
Bamboo Cluster
Flamme always felt a bit lonely. Though there was an abundance of Zephyr Dancers scattered across the Windswept Plateau, the Dryland Drifters always eluded her. It felt as though her breed was dying out, the few that were left of them hidden somewhere she couldn't find. She feared that eventually, her people and culture would disappear entirely.

Though she lived among her own community of Dryland Drifters, all of them were related to her. She wanted to make friends outside of her family, maybe even find a mate, so she set out to meet other dragons. It was then that she realized how difficult it was to find others of her kind. On her journey she met Fenchel and Nessel, who were Zephyr Dancers as well, but not of the same variety. They lived a nomadic lifestyle, and she decided to join them. They quickly became friends, but she always felt a bit out of place.

One day the group ventured into Singer's Brook, which Nessel and Fenchel thought was a perfect place to raise hatchlings in. As they searched for a quiet and secure spot near the streams to build a nest, Flamme caught a glimpse of golden wings among the trees.

"Wait! Are you–?"

She hoped that she was right, that those wings belonged to a Drifter. Abandoning her friends, she ran after the dragon she spotted. What she found was a male Skydancer who indeed looked just like her, and seemed just as startled to see her as she was to see him.

"Are you a Dryland Drifter-"

"Do you know my parents-"

They both started speaking at the same time, and both stopped when they realized they were talking over each other. The other Skydancer ended up letting Flamme speak first, and she explained that she had been looking for others of her species for a while now. But before she could get too excited, he told her that he wasn't a Dryland Drifter, but only happened to look like one. He explained that he wasn't born with his current appearance, and that he was raised among standard Zephyr Dancers, ones that looked like Nessel and Fenchel.

He introduced himself as Feuer and repeated his earlier question, if she happened to know his parents. They gave him away at a young age, but he knows they loved him and he wants to find them again. But, Flamme had to disappoint him too.

"I don't think my tribe ever gave away any children. You said you didn't look like this when you were born, but all the hatchlings born in my family shared my patterns since birth."

Though they were both saddened by these news, it still felt nice to meet someone of similar appearance. Especially for Feuer, who was more familiar with the green colors of his own tribe. Flamme ended up introducing him to her friends, who amidst their search for a nesting place didn't even notice she left.

Feuer's tribe was welcoming towards the nomads, and the small group ended up temporarily staying to raise their hatchlings there. During this time, Feuer and Flamme quickly grew close, until eventually falling in love. But after Nessel and Fenchel's children grew up and left, there was not much reason for them to remain with the tribe. Soon they'd set off to leave again, and Flamme had to make a difficult decision.

She sincerely thanked her two friends for taking her in and helping her, but told them that she had aready found the place she searched for. They were understanding, but she could recognize a hint of sadness in their voices. They knew this wasn't a final goodbye - the couple planned to return to the tribe whenever they needed a place to raise a clutch - but it still hurt to leave a friend behind.
