Generation 1
Konungur + Holden > Me
Moonlight gleamed off his pearlescent, dappled coat. He pulled his hood up close, so not even his eyes could be seen; no one could see his face. No one could recognise him for who he was, and that would happen in a fell instant, if someone were to see just how he looked like his mother.

Icarus had not had the fortune of his past siblings, for better or for worse. His egg had not been smuggled away to safety just before the night of hatching as theirs. Had he been forgotten, or simply overlooked? The answer would never be known. But on that night, while his clutchmates, replaced by false eggs, were presumed to be dead just as almost all their children were... one of them began to rock slightly, as cracks quickly snaked along its pearly shell. His mother could only watch in silent awe, yet horror as he hatched... a prince had survived, emerging into the horrid world his mother had so desperately wished to save him from.

Icarus had grown up as close to his mother as he could given the circumstances—Holden had tried to shield him from his father as much as she possibly could have, surrounding him with as much affection as she had to give. She had taken Icarus’ pearl and hidden it away for safe keeping before it could be stolen by his father, claiming to Konungur that, perhaps because of his Imperial blood, he had simply never produced one. Holden tried to give her son as much of a happy, loving life as she could despite the tyranny and oppression they were trapped under.

But as he grew, Icarus could see more and more just how vile and horrid his power-hungry, manipulative father was. He could stand no longer to see his dear mother so oppressed, and he began to grow furious by the charming lies and cunning manipulation his father used to keep him close. And so, one night, with a heavy heart, he ran. He covered himself with a hood as black as the night, retrieved his pearl, and ran off into the darkness, never to return. He did not tell Holden, but he figured she would know nonetheless. He could not stay. He would find a way, he vowed, to bring freedom to his mother as well, one day.

Starlight reflected in his pale eyes as he gazed up at the full moon. He had come so far since then. So much time had passed. And yet, he was no closer to bringing the freedom he promised himself he would grant to Holden. It weighed heavily on his mind, but there was naught he could do. He feared ever being in the presence of his father again, even after so many years.

He clutched his pearl to his chest, his icy gaze fixated on the night sky above. One day, he vowed. One day he would find a way to bring it all to rights.
